Whoops, what happened here?  This is lacquer thinner vapours being expelled through the chamber and being lit by the arcing.  The flame actually retreats deep within the chamber if the vapours are not in motion.  This is a prime example of what happens if air gets into the reactor during normal operation--efficiency surely goes down, not to mention an explosion is imminent!  (Funny thing though, this flame had no smoke to it...)
