Locked Doors

"Hello??" Jessica said, as she walked deeper into the house.

"Woman, no one is here." Bryce said, as he tried to open the door again. He did not want to be stuck in a house with her.

Chris tried to open the door again, locking and unlocking the bolts. He pulled at the door, but it was if it were sealed shut.

"You guys are such wimps." Jessica said, walking back into the room. She started to twist and yank at the doorknob at the same time, breaking off the knob.

"Greeeeaaat." Bryce said, as he took a seat on the steps that led up the stairs.

"Shut up. Atleast I had the power to move something." She hissed as she left the room to find another exit. She really didn't want to spend another minute with the drunkard.

A few minutes later she returned with two more broken doorknobs. She looked at the two men in disbelief.

"Oh mighty Shira, I am under your power!" Bryce said laughing. He looked at the two knobs as she handed them to him.

"PUUUUCK!!!!" Jessica yelled for what seemed like the hundreth time.

Chris rolled his eyes at her." Look, its obivious that no one is here, so there is no use yelling his name."

She left the two men alone again.

"Now where is she going?" Chris asked as he watched her leave.

Bryce handed him the doorknobs." The kitchen maybe??" he said laughing.

"What do I want with these." Chris said of the doorknobs as he sat them on the stairs.

Jessica returned looking frazzled. "I have tried every door and window on this floor and nothing will open. I can't breath, this is making me clausterphobic! This is just one big horrid joke!!" Jessica said, as she pounded on the front door.

"This really sucks." Bryce said, as he walked into the next room.

"Being trapped in the house? Chris asked following him.

"No, being trapped with her." Bryce said, as he pointed a thumb in her direction.

Chris howled with laughter.

Jessica entered the room with a questioning look at Chris. "You know, there is an upstairs... or were you too stupid to notice? Why don't you idiots go check it out." She said with her arms folded.

"OK" both men said, eager to get away from her. Chris ran up the stairs, taking them two at a time. The hallway seemed to stretch on forever, and doors were every few feet.

"What the hell is this place? It didn't look this big from the outside." Bryce said as he caught up with Chris.

Chris tried to open the door they were standing next to, and it was locked. "Figures." He says and then adds. " You try that side of the hall, and I will try this side." He said, as he started to walk down the hall.

"How many doors do you think this is?" Bryce said as he tried his first locked door.

"Thirty maybe??" Chris said as he continued down the hall. "They are probably all locked.

"Are you finished yet? Have you found anything?" Jessica yelled from downstairs. "Do I need to come up there and hurry you along??

"NO!" Chris yelled to her, hoping she wouldn't find her way upstairs.

"We should put tape over her mouth." Bryce said, as he broke off a doorknob and threw it in front of the door.

"I heard that!!" Jessica yelled.

They reach the end of the hall way with no luck. One last door for them to open, why would it be any different. Bryce barely touches the knob, and the door creaks open to a dark and cold room. The two men stand and stare in, both afraid to enter. The room had a strange air about it..

--------

"You guys are such sissies!!!" Jessica said, as she went past them and into the room. "What are you statues??" She said, as she snapped her fingers in front of their faces. " I stood down there calling you guys, and you didn't answer.

"What??" Chris said as she tried to shake the cobwebs out of his head.

"We just opened the door."Bryce said, as he too shook his head.

Jessica went over to the window, and opened the curtains to bright sunlight. "WOW, look at that garden!! And those woods, I would hate to get lost in them." She said as she turned around to look at the dusty room.

"Woods?" Bryce said, as he walked to the window and looked out. "I've never noticed that before." He said as he continued to stare out.

Chris looked around the once imaculate room. The paint, once maroon, was now peeling in spots. The wood, dusty and the room smelled of mold...or something he couldn't really explain.

He wandered to the closet, and entered a huge walk in. To his amazement there were still clothes. "You guys, check out these clothes!!" He said, as he pulled out a dark musty suit. He threw the jacket over his shoulder, and a handkerchief fell to the floor.

"Ewwwww" Jessica squealed, and pointed at the cloth.

Chris picked up the cloth that was covered in a brown substance.

"Blood." Bryce said, turning his head away from the window for only a second.

"Put it back before I vomit." Jessica said, as she turned away.

Chris stuffed the cloth back into the pocket, and put the jacket on. It fit him perfectly.

"I wonder if there are any secret passages in this creapy old thing?" Jessica said feeling the walls.

"No, no." Bryce said, as he finally moved away from the window. He turned to Jessica and repeated the no.

"Are you ok, you look pale?" Jessica said as if she were really worried.

Bryce sat on the bed." Thought I saw something in the woods is all. It must be the alcohol." He said rubbing his eyes.

Jessica stared at him, making sure he wouldn't pass out. He was way too big for her to carry.

"Stop looking at me like that, you're freaking me out." Bryce said, and then stood up to look back out the window.

"What was that noise?" Chris said, as he heard what sounded like keys hit the floor when Bryce stood up.

Bryce picked up what made the noise and showed Chris. "Keys." Bryce said, and stared at the set curiously.

"Maybe we can get out of here now!!" Jessica yelled and snatched the keys away from him. She ran out of the room and down the stairs in record time. Bryce followed almost running into the door.

"Chris, doorknobs." Bryce said, with his hand out.

"I don't have the knobs, I put them on the...." Chris stopped when he noticed the knobs gone from the steps. "THEY'RE GONE!!" He said as he searched around the steps.

"YOU MORON!!" Jessica yelled. "Wait, where is he going!!" She said, as Bryce walked into the next room. She followed him. "Yooo hooo Bryce.. Jesus, why are you just standing there.. are you going to pass out or what???" She said as she looked at what had caught his attention. "OHhhhh, he is scary looking isn't he." Jessica said as she stared at the picture of the darkest, scariest man she had ever seen. "I wonder who it i?" she asked, unable to take her eyes off of the eyes in the picture.

"They keys aren't to the doors down here, they are to the rooms upstairs."Bryce said looking away from the picture. "God, this place gives me the creeps." HE said and shivered as if cold. The name Sargatanis ran through his mind like water. He read the picture name plate, but could not get the words past his lips.

"Sargatanis!!" Jessica said, and shrugged her shoulders. It meant nothing to her. She grabbed the keys from Bryce and ran up the stairs. She wanted to get out of there, but curiosity of what was in the rooms upstairs was killing her.
