Dear Mr. Rollo,

I'm so glad I found you - and so is a big portion of my 2000 prisoners.  There is so little in the way of resources out there and I'm trying to put it all together for them on my "Making The Walls Transparent" Florida Prison site.

I've added your valuable information and books (what I found of them) to the Ex-Offenders Resource Page that an ex-prisoner named Lakeith Sharif helped me to compile. The page with your information is located at  https://www.angelfire.com/fl4/fci/exresourcerollo.html

The 'justice' system in Florida, indeed, across the nation, is very flawed, there is no rehabilitation in the prison's. In fact, poorly trained and unsupervised guards cause our prisoners to come out sicker in body, mind and spirit than when they went in. That doesn't make me feel safer for my six grandchildren either.

To make it worse, they have no help upon release.  There is a very high recidivism rate in Florida because of these things. If you know of any other valuable information my incarcerated and soon to be released friends need, please let me know.

We are a small 501(c)3 Arkansas based prisoner advocacy organization looking for individuals who have had or are sympathetic to the prisoner experience and its devastating effect on families. Since January 2002, we have been providing prisoners with Dictionaries to help elevate the literacy in prison and enter them in a statewide database where we can match loved ones up with transportation for visitation. Please see below and check out our web site. Ten dollars buys and delivers one Dictionary.

Thank you.  In Peace, Carol Curry

Dictionaries for Prisoners Project

Beginning in 2003, Living In Truth Inc. would like to provide a dictionary to any prisoner, in Arkansas, who requests one.

Living In Truth Inc. is actively seeking donations through book stores and merchants and publishers. We also gratefully accept individual monetary donations, which will be used to purchase dictionaries from our contributing suppliers.

Every recipient will receive a sticker to place on the inside cover stating: This dictionary was donated by................, through the Living In Truth Inc. "Dictionaries for Prisoners" project.

Please contact us if you would like to make a donation.

All dictionary requests must be written and sent to us by the prisoner, along with the reason why they want one and a completed People Visiting Prisoners form.

Please, help promote literacy and excellence behind prison walls.
KEEP READING!                    THANK YOU.

People Visiting Prisoners Project

Living In Truth, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization devoted to solving the problems encountered by prisoners, recently released prisoners and their loved ones.

People Visiting Prisoners is Living In Truth's first ongoing project.  Many prisoners never, get a single visitor while they are in prison.  Usually, it is because all the penitentiaries are in remote locations causing a financial or transportation hardship to loved ones. If you are willing and able to help provide transportation or if you need transportation, please contact us at the #'s above.   If there are any prisoners who aren't receiving visits due to these reasons, please have your families contact us.

Living In Truth will connect the drivers with the riders.  Scheduling, meeting places, etc. will be the responsibility of the persons involved.  Prison is such an isolating experience for most prisoners that getting a visitor is often the highlight of their week/month/year.  Through People Visiting Prisoners, a wide network will be formed of persons who are intimately aware of how the prison experience has impacted their lives and the lives of their loved ones.

Living In Truth Inc., now, has a small van and will be providing transportation for up to 6 persons, to various ADC facilities throughout the state. Call and check for schedule.

If you are a prisoner fortunate enough to have loved ones visit you, please encourage them to participate.  If you would like to know more about Living In Truth, Inc. or would like to become involved, please contact us.
