Well, we are movin right along here! If ya have had a sigh of relief fer your accomplishments so far, Just wait til you get signed up wif Angelfire then create and upload your first web page :-) You is gonna be as proud as a peacock :-)

Before I give da instructions fer signing up wif Angelfire, Dare are some impotent information I wanna tell ya, Otay Buckwheat?

1. Think of a name ya want fer ya main Web page : Fer example, ifa ya nickname is "Helping Hand", ya might wanna use "helpinghand" as ya main web page address.

2. Always remember and never ferget, your Member Name and your Password : Dis information is always needed to log in yur Angelfire account to edit\update web pages. Write it down someswhere where ya wun't ferget it, Otay?

3. Always remember and never ferget to Log OUT when yur done wif changes to your web site: After you have uploaded web pages or removed web pages, always click on,"Log Out"

4. Keep your folders on your hard drive organized : You can ask 100 different folks how they organize their web site HTML files, images and music and you will probably get 100 different answers. I will show you how I do mine and WHY and you decide how you wanna do yours. Some folks have told me they keep individual folders for : Images, HTML files and Music files on their hard drive and or on Angelfire so they keep each file in their individual folders. Do I do it dat away? Nope! Wanna know what I do and why I do it dat away? Well too bad, I am gonna tell ya anyways :-) I keep a folder on my C: drive called, "Angelfire". I have subfolders in C:\Angelfire which are named according to da web page name. Confused? So am I as I read dis so let me susplain it to ya Lucy by using an example!

Your MAIN web page address is named, "index.html". I have a subfolder named, "index" in "C:\Angelfire\index".In that folder, I have the index.html file, the images and midi\wav files that are on the main web page.

Ok so we are gonna get good at dis stuff and we wanna create some hyperlinks from the main web page. For example, we wanna make a NEW web page for our family pictures. I create a SUBFOLDER in C:\Angelfire\ and name it, "family". I save all da family pictures, da background image, music and the "html" file in dat folder, C:\Angelfire\family. I also name dem wif da name, "family". Example: for da background image, I name it, family_bk.jpg, fer da,"html" file, I name it, "family.html". Fer da images, I name em, "family_daughter.jpg", "family_husband.jpg", "family_son.jpg", "family_dog.jpg" and "family_welcometo myworld.wav". Why on devils earth would I do dis? Cause I make changes all da time to web pages and if I want to delete a particular web page, all the files related to dat particular web page is named with "family" in da front of da file name so I can see very easily where all the files related to that web page are located so I don't leave any of em behind.

The other way to create folders so All the files related to a particular web page are all in place is to create a subdirectory in ANGELFIRE and name it, "Family" then go to the , "Family" folder and upload all the files related to the family web page to that folder. It doesn't matter as long as YOU know where you have the files stored.

5. Please read Angelfires Terms of Agreement : When you sign up and please folks, don't be afraid to snoop around in Angelfires, "Help" files and learn new things. I learn sumptin every time I go snoopin around in there :-)

 


Let's Register to be a member of Angelfire

 

1. Go to Angelfire's Web site http://angelfire.lycos.com/

2. Click on, " Sign up"

 

3. Select, "Free" ----> on the bottom of the page, click, "Continue"

 

4. Under, "Step 1: Membership", click on the arrow to select a name then type the name of your choice in the box to the right. THIS WILL BE YOUR ANGELFIRE name:

5. Enter a USER name and Password. Please use ONLY Letters, numbers and underscores. Write this information down in a safe place. You need this information each time You log on to Angelfire to make any changes to your web pages.

 

6. Complete the "Personalize Your Experience" information. Complete the,"Lyco's Registration Offers". Complete the,"Angelfire & Terra Lycos network Offers". Enter the, " Confirmation Code"that is shown on the left. Click on the hyperlink to read the, "Terms of Agreement". If you agree to their Terms of Agreement, click "I agree"

7. Step 2: Confirmation: You will come to the next page where you will see a message, to activate the account. Click on the Hyperlink, " Activate Your Account to Start Building!"

 

8. Web Shell : Well Butter my Butt and call me a biscuit! You Did it!!!! Now you are in the Web Shell!! Look around here and look at the information. Write it down too! It shows you the name of your web site and how much FREE space you have!!!! Hot Diggity Dog!!! You are official a Web Page owner!!!! When you run out of space, you can buy More Space!!!

9. Go to Your Homepage: Under the words, "Web Shell", click on the URL to go to your Homepage. BOOKMark this Page!!! Email that web site to yourself so you don't loose it or drag it to your desktop. Now click on "Back" to go back to the Web Shell

10. Notice in your Angelfire files, you have two files: "index.html" (your main homepage) and ,"/images" which is a folder. We are going to start the tutorial for creating a homepage by changing what Angelfire has set up for you. Again, to view the Main homepage, highlight the file, "index.hrml" and click, "View File"

 

11. Hell's Bell's Loretta, we want a homepage pertier than that, huh? Go back to the Web Shell by clicking, "Back". Ok Folks, we are done here :-) give yourselves a nutter, "pat on da back" again fer me and look to the top right on the Web Shell and "LOG OUT".
