“Now, we are so happy to have all of you. Now, we have several celebrities here and at the final show at the end of the year, they will be choosing who they want to dance for them. You all have been told this before. Some of you will become dancers for famous people and some of you will just be dancers for companies. In the end, the decision is all up to you. Now, I expect all of you to work you hardest and really put your heart into your practices and performances. Good luck,” said a tall man in the front of the room. I looked around and spotted Brian in the back, I smiled and waved. He smiled and waved back.
I walked back to him.
“Hi,” I whispered.
“Hey, ready to dance?” he asked. I nodded.
“Ok! Class... I am your instructor, Brian. Line up!” he said, walking to the front. My jaw hit the floor. My instructor?
“Stretch!” he yelled. I jumped and looked up at him. I got in a line, I was in the middle and started stretching.
“Oh, my...” I muttered and looked over at Kelly who was giggling. I smiled and continued stretching.
“Other arm!” he called, switching arms.
After a few stretches, he yelled, “Split!”
I got down in a split and held it for a good five minutes. I timidly raised my hands.
“Yes?” Brian asked.
“Can we stop with the split, it kinda hurts now,” I asked.
He looked at me and frowned.
“Sorry,” I mumbled and stretched my body so I was laying against my front leg.
*After Practice*
“Ok, what we’re going to do is split you guys into groups, three groups. You’ll end up having a different instructor, or if you’re lucky, you’ll have me. Now, we’re going to teach you the dances you will have to learn for the performance at the end. But, for the first few months, you’ll just be training and such, ok? Good...” he said and two other instructors joined him at the front of the class.
“Now, when I call your name, you are in my group. You’ll follow me into the studio next door,” he said.
“Kelly, Annie, Tina, Jennifer, Melissa, Samantha, Laura, Rhonda, Ginger, and Dahlia. Boys- Jax, John, Jacob, Robert, Rich, Chad, Wes, Anthony, Ethan, Freddie,” Brian announced. I looked at Kelly and smiled.
“Well, at least we’ll have each other,” I smiled.
“Yeah, and you’ll get to see lover boy over there,” she giggled.
“If only students and instructors were allowed to date,” I smiled back at her.
“There are always exceptions to the rules,” she smiled.
“Always,” I said and we followed Brian into the next studio.
“Ok, now. This is going to be my first time choreographing a dance, and I want all of you to please be patient and open-minded. I will change my mind, a lot... I can tell you that ahead of time, but please have patience,” Brian said.
“Now, I just wanted you guys to know where to meet on Wednesday, see you all later,” he said.
We all gathered our things, once again and began to walk out of the studio.
“Dahlia, can I talk to you?” Brian asked. I stopped and nodded.
“What’s up?” I asked, as the last person left.
“Surprise,” he chuckled.
“Well, yeah,” I grinned.
“Yeah, so are you just hanging out tonight?” he asked.
“Yeah, why?” I asked.
“Because, I was going to see if you wanted to do something. Maybe catch a movie,” he shrugged.
I smiled, but then I remember Scott. Wow, I hadn’t even thought about him all day. I got a guilty feeling and looked up at Brian.
“Actually, I was just going to get comfortable and stuff... Maybe some other time, ok?” I asked. Brian’s face dropped.
“Um, ok,” he said, confused.
“Sorry,” I said, sighing.
“It’s ok, I understand. I guess I’ll see you Wednesday,” he said.
“What, we can’t hang out tomorrow?” I asked.
“Well, yeah, I guess we can,” he shrugged.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Brian,” I laughed.
“Bye,” he smiled. I walked out of the studio and to my room.
“Your boyfriend just called,” Cassie said as I walked in.
“Oh! Yea!” I exclaimed and jumped to the phone. I dialed the number and let it ring.
“Hello?” he answered.
“Hey baby,” I smiled.
“Hey! I just called,” he laughed.
“I know, Cassie told me. So, what are you doing?” I asked.
“Nothing, just sitting around. I was thinking about you and thought I would call. I miss you already,” he told me.
“I know, I miss you too,” I said. That was only half truth. I missed Scott, of course, I mean he was my comfort. I was comfortable with Scott, but I really liked being here, without anyone I really knew. And to be honest, he wasn’t really on my mind.
“So, have you met any guys?” he asked.
“Well, yeah, of course,” I said, knowing that’s not what he was asking.
“You know what I mean,” he said.
“Scott, I just got here, jeez,” I whined.
“I know, I’m sorry baby,” he mumbled.
“Well, I am going to lay down and get some sleep. I will call you later, ok?” I asked.
“Ok, I miss you,” he said.
“I miss you too.”
“I love you.”
“I love you.”
“Bye baby.”
“Bye,” I said and hung up the phone.
I laid down on the bed and looked up at the ceiling.
“Knock knock,” Kelly said coming in.
“Hey,” I said.
“Want to go out?” she asked.
“Where?” I asked.
“I don’t know. We’re going to go to a club,” she told me.
“Who is we?” I asked.
“I don’t know, just a few of us. Brian, Jax, Cassie, and Jacob,” she said.
“Brian?” I asked, smiling and blushing at the same time.
“Yeah, come on,” she said.
“Ok, let me change,” I said getting up. I got up and changed into a pair of black leather pants that were really low on my tummy and a black halter top that tied around the neck and had three thin straps across the back and a pair of black boots. I left my hair down put on a little makeup. When I walked out and saw that Kelly was wearing a short black leather skirt and a tight shirt to match, I didnt feel too overdressed. Besides, I wanted Brian to really notice me tonight. I shook the last thought out of my head and smiled at Kelly.
“Damn girl, you look hot,” she laughed.
“Thanks,” I giggled.
“They’re waiting for us downstairs, let’s go,” she said.
“Ok,” I nodded.
We walked downstairs and as we walked out of the building I saw Jax, Cassie, Jacob, and then Brian.
“Hey guys, ready?” Kelly asked, linking her arm with Jacob, who she had been joined at the hip with for the last two days.
“Whoa,” Brian said, as he turned and looked at me.
“What?” I asked.
“Uh, nothing... I thought you were getting comfortable?” he asked.
“Yeah, well, I changed my mind,” I smiled.
“Well, that’s cool,” he smiled.
“So, where to first?” Cassie asked.
“I dont know... let’s get a bite to eat first,” Kelly suggested, rubbing her tummy.
“Ok,” we all agreed. We all walked down to a restaurant that was on a corner of the street. We walked in and looked around and decided we wanted to eat there.
“Hi, how many?” a hostess asked walking up to us. Brian had put on a hat and pulled it over his face, probably so no one would recognize him.
“Uh, six,” Kelly answered.
“Ok, right this way. Smoking or non?” she asked.
“Smoking,” Jax spoke up. We all giggled and followed the waitress and were seated. I was against the wall and Brian pressed up against me and Kelly on his other side. After we ate and had a ‘nice’ meal, we left for a club.
“It is so cold out here,” I whined, wrapping my arms around my body.
“Maybe if you wore more clothes...” Cassie laughed.
“Hey, look at Kelly,” I said pointing to an excited Kelly.
“Hey, but I’m not complaining,” she giggled.
“Yeah, well,” I said, rubbing the goosebumps on my arms.
“Here,” Brian said, taking off his jacket and placing it on my shoulders.
“Are you sure?” I asked.
“Yeah, I’m not cold,” he laughed.
“Thank you,” I smiled.
Finally we got into the club and a huge wave of loud music hit us as we pushed our way through the club. I started to feel a little warm.
“Here, you can have your jacket back,” I smiled.
Brian smiled and slipped it back on.
“Dance with me?” I asked, smiling.
“Of course,” he smiled back. We walked out to the middle of the dance floor and began dancing to ATC’s “Around The World”, we started to grind our bodies together and laughing, just having a really great time. I didn’t want to admit it to myself and I wasn’t going to let myself admit it, but Brian was developing an attraction from me that I couldn’t help. He looked so amazing dancing and laughing. I shook him out of my head and tried to replace Scott, but the more Brian and I danced, the more I was starting to like him.
