-After the concert-
“Oh boy! That was tiring. How can you guys do this all the time?” I asked.
“I guess the audience gives us the energy. And we are kinda used to it.” Brian said.
“I want to go to the pool and just sit.” I said.
“Oh, that’s a good idea Catie!” Meg said.
“Why don’t we all go?” Brian suggested.
“That’s a great idea,” said Nick.
“Us girls are going to go up to change. We’ll meet you guys at the pool.” Erin said.
“Okay,” said the guys.
“We’ll be down in ten minutes,” I added. Then we all left and went up to change.
“Catie do you know where’s my brush?” asked Meg.
“Yeah it’s in Sarah’s room on the table,” I yelled to her. “Everyone ready?” I asked.
“Yeah lets go,” Sarah said.
-At the pool-
“Where’s the guys?” I asked.
“I don’t know,” said Ashley. But the guys were there. They crept behind us and on the count of three they picked us up and threw us in the pool.
“Ohmigod Brian! This was all your idea I bet!” I said mad and wet.
“Well I guess I’m guilty,” he said back.
“Well, us girls are going to get you guys back,” I declared. I looked at Meg, Sarah, Ashley, and Erin; they all knew what I was thinking of. ‘On the count of three,’ I mouthed. “One..two..THREE!” On the count of three, we pushed the guys in. Then we were even.
“Ha! Now we’re even!” said Meg and me said happily.
“Well, what about this?” Brian said pulling me by the ankles into the pool.
“That wasn’t very nice. I just got you back for what you did to me!” I said.
“Well, what about this?” then he kissed me.
“Oooooohhhhhh!” Said Nick.
“Shut up Nick!” We both said together.
“Would you grow up?” I asked, “You haven’t changed since I saw you before you went away.”
“Any of you guys want to have a race?” Kevin asked.
“I guess Brian has never talked about me and swimming before, well just to tell ya, I can kick your butt any day of the week!” I said. I’ve been swimming since I was in diapers and was on my junior high and high school team, along with a US team.
“Oh really? I bet I can kick your butt. First of all you’re a girl and I’m a guy and second I’m like seven years older.” Kevin said in return.
“Oh yeah? Bring it on!” I said challenging him. “Eat my dust!” I said getting into my start position.
“Okay ready..set..GO!” Brian said sending us off. I totally kicked Kevin’s butt. All he could do was eat the bubbles coming off my kicking.
“Ha! Look who’s talking now Mr. Macho Man!” I said to Kevin when he finally reached the end.
“I got beat. I got beat bad. I got beaten by a girl,” he mumbled under his breath.
“What did you say?” hearing him and wanting to embarrass him.
“Oh nothing, just I never thought a girl could swim that fast,” trying not to show that he was embarrassed.
“Well, it comes from seventeen years of dance and gymnastics, eighteen years of swim, and eight years of cheerleading.” I said very proud.
“Oh wow! Maybe you could be our choreographer because Fatima is going to retire,” Howie suggested.
“I would love to but I still have school. I want to be a doctor you know,” I said. “Oh that reminds me, I have to practice for gymnastics. I have state finals right after we go back from vacation. Sorry babe, but I gotta hit the gym,” I said to Brian.
“Why don’t we all come and watch,” Brian suggested.
“Um, okay I guess that would be good. I have to start practicing in front an audience anyway. So I don’t get all nerve wrecked when it finally comes to finals.” I said. “Just let me go up and change and I’ll be down in ten minutes. Wait for me in the gym okay?”
“Okay,” he said.
“Okay see you people later,” I said grabbing my towel and heading toward the elevators.
When I finally got to my room, I changed into a leotard I brought and a pair of shorts. I pulled my hair into a ponytail and grabbed my music.
-Back at the pool-
“Hey, why didn’t you ever tell me Catie was a pro swimmer so I wouldn’t have made that stupid challenge?” Kevin asked Brian.
“I guess it wasn’t’ that important. But I guess it is to you. Before you make anymore stupid challenges that she can kick you butt in. Catie has gotten first place at state finals last year in the individual competition for gymnastics, her dance team has gotten in first and so has she in individual at the southeastern finals, and for cheer her team was in second. I guess she wasn’t really into cheer.” Brian said.
“I guess she centers her life around dance,” Kevin said in amazement.
“I guess. We better get going guys she should be there soon.”
