-Later that day at dance practice-
“5...6...7...8” Fatima counted off and they started to dance.
“They really stink!” I said to Meg.
“Just because they can’t dance as well as you doesn’t mean they stink.” Meg said to me.
“You haven’t watched them dance yet, go look,” I said to her. Meg looked over.
“They really do stink. But at least they kinda have it,” said Meg.
“Kinda? They’re totally off!” I said laughing.
“Okay you guys take a break. Oh yeah, Nick...Brian no water guns,” Fatima said.
“You guys have to work on your dance!” I said.
“Oh yeah and you can do better? Today’s our first day!” Howie said.
“As a matter of fact I can! Fatima can you put on the music so I can show I can kick Howie’s butt?” I asked.
“Howie you have no idea what you got yourself into,” Brian whispered to Howie.
“5...6...7...8,” I performed the dance almost perfectly.
“Yeah you go girl!” Meg yelled to me.
“Now look who’s talking Howie?” I said walking past him to get a drink.
“Told ya!” Brian said to Howie.
“You sure showed him!” said Brian.
“Catie ever think of doing choreography?” Fatima asked me.
“Well, yeah, but because of school I never get the chance to try.” I said.
“Well, why don’t you try it out and tour with us for the summer?” She asked.
“Ohmigod! Sure, I’d love to!” I said happy.
“Great, you can practice with the guys to learn the other two dances.” She suggested.
“Sure,” I said, then Fatima left to go find the other music.
“Ohmigosh! Bri I get to choreograph for you guys!
Eeeeeekkkkk!” I was totally ecstatic! I’ve never been so happy.
“Then we should go celebrate tonight. Just the two of us,” he said.
“Sure, but where are we going?” I asked.
“I can’t tell you that, it’s a surprise,” he said.
“Fine, be that way!” I said.
“Hey guys, and girl, break’s over,” Fatima said. I was the only one who could actually get the dances. The guys would either stumble and lose the beat or fall down.
“You guys need lots of work. Catie you’re going to have to whip them into shape,” said Fatima. She was going to leave on vacation sooner since I could take over because I had the dances down flat.
“Have fun in Hawaii!” I said waving to her on the way out. “You heard her guys, I have to whip you into shape. Let’s start from the top. 5...6...7...8.”
They still couldn’t get any of the moves right.
"Babe can’t we have a break? We’ve been at this for hours.” Brian said plopping onto the couch.
“Hours? You’ve only been dancing for thirty minutes! You guys have to learn this dance sooner or later. Better sooner because if it’s later you guys will have to put in extra hours.” I dragged him back to the other guys. “Okay as soon as one of you can get this move I’ll let you guys have a break. Step, kick, pivot-turn, kick.” I demonstrated to move to them at the actual speed it was supposed to be at. They all looked like they were lost. “Here, I’ll show it to you again, and slower. Step, kick, pivot-turn, kick. Who’s first?”
All the guys shook their heads. After minutes of bickering, they pushed Nick to go first since he was the youngest. It was totally obvious he had no idea what he was doing. After the rest of the guys went, I knew they were going to need lots of work.
“Babe we tried hard. Can we still have a break?” begged Brian looking at me with a puppy face.
“Okay fine, you know I can’t resist that face,” I said giving in.
“Yay!” he exclaimed and was coming over to hug me.
“Eeeeewwww!” I said laughing, “You’re all sweaty,” and on that cue all the guys came over to hug me. After five long minutes (Nick and Brian were chasing each other with water guns and Brian decided to use me as a shield and Nick used Meg) I decided to call the guys back to practice. “Guys breaks over and time to practice,” I heard groans.
