The next few months were hectic on the guys. With Rae and Kevin getting closer, the next step was marriage, or so everyone thought.
When mentioned to Kevin by Brian once at dinner, he just responded with "You never know," which got everyone to thinking what he was going to do.
Anna went back home at the end of her vacation, which only left Brian asking me questions about her. I didn't know what to tell him, eventhough I talked to her almost everyday since her trip. I didn't get to spend much time with her, since I was always with Alex, and she with Brian.
We spent most of our time catching up on what was going on with Michael, eventhough he had moved out prior to her coming down here.
"I don't know why he did, but I am glad he did," Anna explained on the phone. "Now, I don't have to put up with him. He called me today, wanting to know who I was seeing. I told him it was none of his business, which it isn't. Why does he do this to me?" She began to cry.
"Because he can no longer control your every move," I try to convince her. "He was no good for you, all he did was bum off you. You couldn't support both of you and run a house. You know that."
"I know," she simply said, knowing I was right. "So, have you talked to Brian?" She wondered.
"Well, Alex said he called today, but I didn't ask him any details. But," I paused, "he did say something about wanting you to come back down here."
I heard the smile in her voice, "I would love to, but I can't right now. I can't just quit my job."
"Yes, you can. You are a secretary at a medical building, you can find that down here."
I knew I was being selfish wanting my sister down here with me. We have been close all our lives, and now it seems that we are further away than ever.
"I may, I will have to wait until the next pay period starts. Then I will let you know. Hey, if you talk to Brian, have him call me."
We said our goodbyes, and ended the call. I could tell there was more with Brian than what she was telling me, but I had to let her live her own life.
"Kev?" Rae asked, entering the house. "Are you home?"
"In the den," he yelled back.
When she entered the first place she went was to his lap. "Hi," she simply said, "I have missed you!" She covered him in kisses.
"I have missed you, too" he said, hugging her tight. "How was your trip to your mom's?"
"It was wonderful. I wish you could have came too. They would like to meet you," she got up, grabbing a shopping bag.
"Maybe next trip," he said sitting up in the chair, and turning off the television. "What do you say we go out for dinner tonight?"
"That would be nice, since I haven't got to spend much time with you," she sat beside him on the lounge. "We need to make up for lost time."
A smile covered his face, as he leaned up and kissed her lightly on the lips, then hugging her.
Kevin had missed the way she made him feel, the way she loved him. He missed the way she smelled all the time, her perfume was the most romantic fragrance on the planet.
Nick and Sarah had spent the day lounging around playing video games, and battling in competition.
"You are such a sore loser, Nicky," Sarah bragged. "Is today a bad day for you?"
"No," he quickly answered, "I am letting you win." He smiled.
"Why is that?" She wondered.
"Because when we make these bets on the games, I always win, even if I lose the game," he smiled, winking.
"Oh, is that why you don't care if you lose? You sneak," she playfully smacked him on the chest. "Now, which of my winnings do I want to cash in today?" She brought her hand to her chin, pretending to be in deep thought.
"You think long and hard," he smirked.
"I know," she said, smiling, "how about the one that consisted of dinner and dancing? That would be nice tonight."
"Okay, go get ready and be back down here in a hour."
As she made her way upstairs the telephone rang. She heard Nick pick up, "Hello?"
"Hey Frack." It was Brian.
"Hey Frick, what's up?"
"Not much. Wha'cha doing tonight?"
"Ah, me and Sarah are going out to dinner. What about you?" He hated not having time to spend with his best friend lately.
"Well, first I am supposed to call Anna, then I wanted to see if you wanted to do something." He paused, "But since you are busy with Sarah, we can get together some other time. Oh, Anna's coming down next week, and I wanted to know if you and Sarah wanted to get together and go out or something?"
"Well, I will have to see what is happening when she does come down. But, as of right now, that sounds like fun. Let me know when she comes in."
"Well, I'll talk to you later. Have fun, but not too much fun," Brian laughed.
"Ah, you know me," he laughed back.
