I lay the phone down, and pick up the remote control. "Oh no, not South Park. Not tonight." I say to myself, changing channels.
The next morning, the phone woke me up.
"Hello?" I groggily answered the phone.
"Hey sis, it's me Anna. My flight is scheduled to be there at 11:30. Can your friend still come pick me up?"
"Oh, hold on a sec," I sit up on the couch, noticing the time was 7:37. "Yeah, I talked to him last night, and he said for me to tell him what time, and he'd be there. He said he will hold up a little cardboard sign with your name on it." I laugh.
"Oh, man, don't let him embarrass me," she said, scoldingly.
"He's not. He's coming over here and getting a picture of you."
After we hung up, I walk out to the sidewalk and get my morning paper. As I look up, I see Alex sitting across the street from my house, asleep in the driver's seat of his Expedition.
"Alex!" I yell, as he jumps.
"What?"
"What the hell are you doing? Are you spying no me?"
"No," he says, looking at me, as he puts on a pair of sunglasses.
"Yes, you are. Why can't you just leave me alone?" I ask, hitting his arm with the paper.
"Dawn, I love you. There is nothing between me and Marisa. I know she came to see you yesterday. Just hear me out, please," he asks.
"Alex," I say, looking down at the street.
"Just ten minutes?"
"All right. Come on in," I say, turning towards the house.
He follows me inside, and into the kitchen. As I pour him a cup of coffee, automatically I add creamer to it, stirring it, I sit it in front of him on the counter.
"You remembered," he smiled.
"How could I forget? Okay, you got ten minutes, you better start talking," I say, getting the orange juice from the fridge.
"Okay. Honey, you know I would never do something that would hurt you. I don't want her. I don't love her, I love you. I want to be with you. Ever since I first saw you, I have loved you."
He is interrupted by the ringing of the phone. As I answer it, I hear Brian on the other end. After I inform him what time her flight is, he tells me he will be over in a few minutes to get her picture.
As I hang up the phone, I look at Alex. "Continue."
"Dawn, I love you. I don' t know what else to say. I want to be with you. I want you in my life. I want to spend the rest of my life loving you." He stands in front of me, rubbing my face.
He swiftly moves closer and kisses me. I couldn't help but kiss him back.
I break the kiss. Looking him in the eyes, "Don't do that."
"Why? You enjoyed it. I enjoyed it." He looked at me, taking his hand, pushing my robe off my shoulder, kissing it.
I take my hand up to his head, running my fingers through his hair. I wanted so bad to feel his hands on me.
He lifts me up, sitting me on the counter. Untying my robe, he pushes it off me. Pulling up my nightgown, he continues kissing me.
He made love to me on the counter. I had never felt the magic I felt at that instant. He then carried me upstairs to the bedroom, where he made love to me, until we were interrupted by the doorbell.
"Don't get that," he said, breathlessly.
"I have to. Brian is picking Anna up at the airport and he needs her picture," I say, sliding out of bed, and putting on a robe. "I'll be right back," I say kissing him. "Don't lose that thought."
I run down the stairs, open the door. "Hey."
"I'm sorry, I didn't bother you did I?" He asked, smiling.
"Oh, shut up. Here's her picture. She will be at gate 4, 11:30."
"Okay. Be careful," he says, sincerely. "Don't get hurt."
"Oh, I'm not the one getting hurt, he is," I smile, closing the door behind him.
I run back up the stairs, jumping on Alex's body laying in my bed. "I'm back, did you miss me?"
"Oh, yea, I always miss you," he says, leaning up kissing me.
