At This Moment

When Alex and I got back together, we weren't the only ones who had fallen back in love. Kevin had recently started talking to his ex-girlfriend, Rae, and they seemed to be making another relationship.

As for Howie, he was seeing someone new. He swears they are just friends, but time will tell. Her name is Stephanie, and she is friends with Caryn, Nick's best friend.

Nick has been seeing Sarah for about eight months now. They seem pretty happy, and she is crazy in love with him. He seems to care about her, I mean, he hasn't made an effort to go out or meet anyone new, which makes Brian happy.

Brian and Anna were hitting it off. They have been together every night since she came in a few days ago. I hope they start dating, because Michael is no good for her. He is a bum, a looser, because he doesn't work. I don't know why Anna puts up with him.

My thoughts are interrupted with the ringing of the telephone, as I sit at the counter in the kitchen watching Nick, Brian, Kevin, and Alex play basketball.

"Hello?"

"Hi, is Alex there?" A female voice on the other end asks.

"May I ask who is calling?" I wonder who she is.

"This is Karen," she pauses.

"Oh, just a second," I say, walking out on the deck. "Alex, telephone", I say, holding the phone out.

"Who is it?" He asks, walking towards me.

"Karen?"

"Oh," he takes the phone, "Hey girl! What up?" He asks.

I walk over to where Brian is sitting on the grass in the shade. "Who is Karen?"

"Karen is his best friend from like years ago. Is that her?" He asks.

"Yes. How come he never mentioned her to me?"

"Well, a few years ago, she moved to London to become an actress. They hardly keep in touch anymore, but he mentioned she was moving back to Orlando. I guess she's back. Don't worry, there's nothing between them, but friendship. He's not her type, if you know what I mean." He giggled.

"She's lesbian?" I question.

"No, she's married. Besides, she would never go out with him. She always said he was too wild for her tastes."

About that time, Alex came over to where we were sitting and talking. "She's back home. She wants to know if we wanna go out clubbing tonight?" He sits beside me. "You wanna go out tonight?"

"Alex, are you asking me out on a date?" I smile at him.

"Why yes I am." He smiles at me, leaning over, whispering in my ear, "Hey little chica...you are the hottest one here, and I wanna know if you would go out with me tonight?"

I lean in close to him, breathing on his ear, "Oh, you stud, I would love to. Has anyone told you that your eyes hold all power to ultimate orgasm?" I lean back over, away from him, smiling a sly smile. "Besides, I would like to meet your oldest and best friend that has never been mentioned to me before."

"Well, she wants us to meet her at the Club 69 at 8. Can we do that? Are you guys in?" He looks around at the rest of the guys.

"Well, I will have to see what Rae wants to do," Kevin said.

"Yea, I gotta talk to Sarah. I think she wants to go to the movies tonight, but I don't know," Nick explained.

"What about you Brian? You and Anna in?" I ask.

"Probably. I will have to let you know," he replied.

After arriving at the club, Alex immediately spots Karen sitting on a stool at the bar. He goes up behind her, grabbing her, spinning her around, yelling above the dance music that played, "Hey girl!"

She jumps up, hugging him instantly, "Oh, my goodness, it seems as if it has been forever! And you still haven't changed!" She yelled back, smacking him lightly on the shoulder.

He grabbed my hand, pulling me close to him. "Karen, this is Dawn. Baby, this is Karen, my best friend from childhood." He says, kissing me on the forehead.

"Nice to meet you," I say, shaking her hand. As the night wore on, Brian and Anna showed up, along with Nick and Sarah, and Kevin and Rae.

Alex rubbed my back, to which I turned my attention to him. "So, what do you think of Karen?"

"She's nice, Hard to believe she put up with you all these years!" I say, smiling.

He leaned in closer to me, "Well, hopefully she won't be the only one able to put up with me for a long amount of years." Then he kissed me.

As we were kissing, I heard the beginning of "Pretty Fly For A White Guy" come across the floor. "Come on, let's dance," I say, breaking the kiss and taking his hand, leading him to the dance floor.

After dancing provacitavely for a few bars, he pulls me close to him, and kissed me. At around two in the morning, we all decided we were beat and headed home. Karen was staying at a hotel in town, but Alex insisted she stay at his house with us.
