That night, I stayed in, watching movies. I didn't want to go out, or have company.
I picked up the phone, dialing my sister, Anna's phone number.
After the third ring, there was a voice on the other end, "Hello?"
"Hi," I said, "Was you busy?"
"No, just washing dishes. What are you doing?" She asks.
"Nothing, trying to find something on television. Wanna come down for a visit?" I say, beginning to cry.
"I could. When? What's going on?" She senses something is up with me.
"Nothing. It's just that me and Alex split up, and I need you here."
"Well, I'll tell ya what, I am taking my vacation starting tomorrow. I was gonna call you. So, I will see you tomorrow?"
"That would be great. What about mom? Was you gonna go up there to see her?"
"I was, but I spent my last vacation with her, so I will come down there with you. Can you pick me up at the airport tomorrow?"
"I can't tomorrow, but I have a friend who owes me a favor. Call me with your arrival time, okay?"
"I will, as soon as I find out. So, who's this friend? Male or female?" She says, with a grin on her face.
"Male, and single." I say, peaking her interest.
"Cute?"
"Adorable. And he's the sweetest thing that ever walked."
"Cool, I will see you tomorrow and we will go out and do something to take your mind of the ingrate," she giggles under her breath. "So, what did he do?"
"Nothing," I say, wanting to change the subject. "Well, I saw him at McDonald's with another girl."
"So, who was she?"
"His ex-girlfriend, Marisa."
"Oh, so you know her name?"
"Yeah, she came by here yesterday and talked to me."
"What did she say? She didn't defend him, did she?"
"Well," I pause, "she said that I am the only thing he has been talking about. She said he was in love with me."
"You don't believe her, do you? I mean, if he did, he would tell you right?"
I knew she had a point, "Yea, I guess. I am gonna wait and talk to him, see what he says."
"Well, I gotta go. Michael ordered pizza, and it is here. I will see you tomorrow."
"Okay, love ya sis, good night," I say, smiling.
"Nite," she says, hanging up the phone.
