At This Moment

As the arrival date of the baby came closer, the tension between us was unbearable. We were always short tempered with each other. I know it was because we were both nervous about becoming parents, and with all the pressure Denise was giving us to get married, she didn't help it any.

"What's your problem today?" AJ asked in a hateful manner. "All you have done today is complain." He turned and walked out the backdoor.

"What are you talking about? I haven't complained to you about anything!" I yelled, following him outside. "You are the one who complained because I didn't feel like fixing you breakfast!" I slammed the door behind me.

"You know what? I need some air. I'll be back later," he yelled back, walking toward the garage.

"Good, get out of my face!" I stood there, wishing he would come back and hold me, but I watched him disappear inside the garage. I watched him as he pulled out of the driveway, and turned the corner.

"I can't take this!" I yelled, walking back into the house, as Denise came into the room.

"Are you all right? You don't need to get upset," she tried to calm me.

"You know what? I don't need a lot of things. I don't need you pressing him to get married, I don't need all the stress of you aggravating him because then he stresses me out and makes me nervous. It makes me nervous having you here, all the time," I stop and look at her. "I don't mean to be rude, please believe me, but I can't take this right now." I say as I leave the room.

"Yeah, well, you know what?" She follows me into the sitting area, "You are gonna deal with it, because you are the one turning my twenty-one year old son into a father. You will have to put up with me for the rest of your life as long as he is in your's."

"Well, maybe he won't be in my life since you put it that way!" I yell at her. "If he doesn't want this baby, then he doesn't have to have anything to do with this baby, as long as he isn't ready to be a father to it. And besides, I wasn't the only one who did anything to create this baby." I look at her, as I begin to cry.

All of a sudden, I felt a strange pain in my lower abdomen. As I jerk my hand to my stomach, Denise gets a worried look on her face.

"Are you all right?" She says, squatting in front of me.

"No, I am not," I cry, "It hurts. I think I am in labor!" As soon as those words came out of my mouth, my water bag broke. "AAAAJJJJJ!" I begin screaming. "Get him! NOW!"

"Let me call his cellphone," she says as she picks up the phone, and dials his number. "Sh•t! It's turned off! Howie!" She says as she continues to dial numbers.

Howie and Stephanie were sitting beside the pool, enjoying the nice weather, when his cellphone rang.

"Hello?"

"Howie! It's Denise! I need you to find Alex! He left here and I can't get ahold of him on his phone. Dawn is in labor!" She is ecstatic.

"What?!?" He yelled into the phone, as a startled Stephanie looked at him. "I will try. Call 9-1-1, and I will bring him to the hospital. Call me back and let me know where you are taking her." He hang up his phone and looked at Stephanie.

"Dawn?" She asked, with wide eyes.

"Yes, that was Denise. She said Bone left and turned off his phone, so we gotta go find him." He jumped up and slipped on a pair of jeans.
