I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!
Chapter Fourteen

Recap:  “And so am I. I noticed how beautiful Mac was, but she didn’t love me. She loves you.” Nick said quickly regretting it. “I mean…”
“What do you mean you noticed how beautiful Mac is? What’s that supposed to mean.” A.J. already knew they went out, but he wanted to hear it from them.
“Ok J. I’m gonna tell you something, but you have to promise not to get mad. O.K?”
 “O.k.”
“Mac and I went out about two years ago. I’m sorry we never told you. It’s just that she didn’t love me the way she loves you. Sure she hasn’t exactly admitted to loving you, but I know she does. I see the way she looks at you, and the way you look and her.” That’s all A.J. needed to know. She loved him, and he loved her. Now what were they supposed to do?
“Thanks man. I really needed to hear that.” A.J. said as he patted his friend on the back.
“No prob. Are you gonna tell Mac that you know?”
“Yeah, but I haven’t figured out how yet.”
“I think I have an idea.” Nick said as he schemed a perfect night for A.J. and Mac.

The photo shoot was over and everybody was packing up to go. A.J. planned on telling Mac he knew about her and Nick, but not that he snooped through her diary. Mac came out, fully dressed (much to the disappointment of Nick and A.J.), and they were on their way to McDonald’s.
“Mac I have to tell you something. Promise me that you won’t be angry at Nick or me?” A.J. said quietly as they now sat inside the McDonald’s restaurant enjoying lunch.
“I promise.” Mac said now giving her full attention to A.J.
“I know about you and Nick. I mean that you two went out for a while.” Mac didn’t know what to say. She tried to look A.J. in the eyes, but she couldn’t. She almost felt ashamed.
 “I’m sorry…”
“Wait Mac, I’m not finished. I’m not angry. I’m just kinda sad that you didn’t think that you could tell me. You could’ve told me why you and Nick hated each other so much. Maybe I could’ve helped, but I’m glad that you two worked it out on your own. So, you don’t have to apologize, it’s o.k.” A.J. said as he placed his hand over Mac’s.
“I’m sorry I never told you. Nick and I were good together, but there was something there that just made it so hard to get close.  He knew what it was, but I didn’t.” Mac said not looking up from her chicken nuggets.
“We were good together weren’t we?  Just so you know Mac, I will always love you, and you can always trust me. I’ll be there for you no matter what.” Nick said smiling at Mac. Mac was now sobbing on her fries. Nick moved over to the same side as Mac and A.J. Nick hugged her as she sobbed into his shirt. She let go of Nick, and looked at her food.
“Thank you guys for being such good friends. I don’t know what I would do without you.” Mac said as she looked up from her now wet food. A.J. wiped her tear stained face and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
“It’s our pleasure, right Nick?” A.J. said looking over to the other side of Mac.
“Definitely.” Nick said almost suspiciously. Mac looked at Nick, and then back at A.J.
“Something’s not right. What do you two have planned?” Mac said looking at A.J.
“You’ll see. Don’t worry.” A.J. said turning his attention back to his food wearing an almost evil grin.
