This is a picture
of Timbo, my friend's Dobie that died in 2005. He was a rescue dog
that we got when I lived with her. Real sweetheart. Was a complete
stray when Animal Services picked him up. She tried for a week to
get him out, but they were insistent on putting him down since he
was injured. She finally got the head of Orange County Animal Control
to get him out for her. He had had a broken leg and hip that had
healed bad. The joints in his knee and ankle were fused so he couldn't
bend them. His hip muscles had grown all wonky and backwards, but
he ran as fast as any other dog. Used the stiff leg for a rudder
to turn. He had pellets and buckshot in him. In spite of all that
he was the gentlest, sweetest dog I've ever known.
