You come through the break in the shrubs only to come upon a long, steep mountain pass leading up to some of the taller peaks. Looking up, you can see several caves near the summits of some of the other mountains. A small ledge is about halfway up the rock face to your left, and the path climbs farther before swerving left again. Another path turns to the right, climbing steadily upwards. You look from fork to fork, trying to decide which way to go.

*Trying to choose a path, esthil?* a voice says deeply.

You whirl and discover a large brown and white wolf standing in your path.

His body is covered in shiny war paint, and the slight scowl on his slender face reveals his rather moody disposition. At the moment, you wonder if he is not in such a great mood as usual.

"Um....hello..." you stutter, trying to smile in the face of this wolf who looks like he could rip your head off. The canine grins slightly, a very toothy grin, but that is nothing that he can help.

*Wyven, esthil. I am Tarei'hasan, or True Fire.* His expression seems to relax somewhat, and you can feel your body slump slightly in relief. *Welcome to Alana'Kreeach's Antheral Mountains. These mountains are my home, as well as the homes of several other....creatures.*

You can see that he puts a rather territorial emphasis on the last word, and he smiles again. You nod, smiling slightly. All of these creatures are making your head spin.

*Well, esthil, you must be anxious to see more of the isle, so I'll be on my way. Enjoy yourself, hmm?* Tarei'hasan turns and disappears into a cave near the side of the path that you had not noticed before. As you pass it, you see him lying in wait for his next 'victim'. He winks at you, then turns his gaze back to the long path behind you.

You see that you can either climb the small ledge that you saw before, take the path to the left, or the slightly steeper path to your right. You could also climb to the peak with the large nest. Or, as an afterthought, you could simply go back down to the meadow.
