Chapter 2
I awoke to the loud voice of Vicki. I opened my eyes
to see her standing
above me as I screamed.
Her thick glasses were kinda scary as
she jumped
back laughing hysterically.
"Honey, Nick is here, we invited him over
for dinner!" She said excitedly.
She shut the door as I got up,
getting dressed.
I put on my white tanktop and khaki shorts and put my
hair
up. I ran up the stairs annoyed at Vicki, my
migraine starting up again.
I
opened the basement door and saw Nick standing
next to the red couch.
I
couldn't believe my eyes, he was so good looking
now. And so tall!
He
gave a smile in my direction as I shut the door and
walked over to him.
"Long
time no see Jess," he said looking down at me.
His voice was raspy and kinda
sexy.
"Hey Nick, how have you been?" I asked as we sat
down
next to each other.
"Good…you?" He asked.
"I really
missed this place, not the color…" He laughed,
it was an adorable laugh.
I almost totally forgot how bad I hated him.
"You looking forward
to going back to school? There's a
talent show soon and I bet it would be fun
if you
joined," he said with the smirk I definitely didn't miss.
That
made us start up the fighting again.
"You know what? I think I will just
to beat your
sorry…"
"Jess? Nick? Dinner's ready!" Vicki
called from the
kitchen. I got up angrily and walked into the kitchen.
Nick
followed soon after and sat down next to my
dad and Vicki. Before I sat down
I got some
Tylenol from the cabinet closest to Nick. He looked at
me with
a grin that I wanted to just smack
off his face.
"So Nick, how have
you been?" Vicki asked as I sat
down at the polka dotted table.
"Good
Mrs. Logan. I've started a band with 4 of my other
friends, we're hopefully going
to get somewhere with
it soon," he said as I rolled my eyes.
Same
old Nick, always thinking he was going to
make it big.
"Really?
That's great! You could take J with you on
tour," my dad said taking a bite
of his potatoes.
My milk almost shot out of my nose as I laughed silently.
Unfortunately
I have the airhead laugh so they all heard
me.
"What's so funny J?"
Dad asked me as I wiped
my mouth with my napkin.
"Nothing dad, it
was just something I was thinking about
at the time," I said as I picked
up my fork with a smile.
Luckily my migraine finally went away after dinner.
I had to walk Nick home sadly, dad and Vicki's orders.
"I saw
Aaron and Angel outside today," I said as I
folded my arms, it was starting
to get cold as the sun
went down.
"That's where they usually go when
they want to play," he
said laughing. I sighed and shook my head.
"You're
still an asshole huh?" I said as we stopped in
the middle of the road.
"I
wouldn't say that J, I'm just, I'm still the same as
when I was younger,"
he said with a smirk.
We started walking again, getting more and more
furious
with every step.
"Okay Nicky, we're at your house. I'll see you
at
school," I said brushing him off.
"Bye J! And don't get to choked
up when you see
yourself losing at the talent show!" He yelled to me.
God
I hate him.
