Bought a single at local Cigar shop. Thank god Cubans are not banned in Tel Aviv.
The box code said 11/96 date of production. Smoked fresh around an expresso.
size: 6 1/2" * 52 Torpedo
Wrapper, appearance and construction : Deep brown color almost black, oily wrapper, sharp head.
2/2 points
Smoking it : Easy lighting, very easy drawing (surprised me!), perfect burning, powerfull aromas on start.
3/3 points
Full bodied cigar that develops stronger aromas on 2nd part. Almost 'creamy' flavors with spices. Ash seem to hold like hell. Won't fall, fantastic hold.
3/3 points
The end is over-powerfull and mixed flavors. My expresso is tasteless with this cigar. Maybe the best construction I've ever smoke. Full of character.
2/2 points
Total points : 10/10
General comments : Although this was not my first Monte #2, it was the best I had.
Nothing to compare with other Torpedo size.
Great construction, beautifull wrapper, got me addicted. My first 10/10.

A box I bought in Paris in 06/97. NISA printed on the back of the box means 12/96 date of production.
The red cigar band is really beautifull. Stored in large humidor since.

Wrapper, appearance and construction : Brown color, irregular wrapper, appearant veins. Lovely smell.
1.5/2 points
Smoking it : Problematic lighting, medium drawing, good burning. Strong flavors on beginning.
2/3 points
2nd third starts to be more interesting. Drawing is now good. Kind of smoky.
Maybe an outdoor smoke. Clear coffee flavors.
2.5/3 points
Puffs are identicall to 2nd part. My palate is tickling because of heavy smoke. Long finish.
This cigar left me a great after taste.
1.5/2 points
Total points : 7.5/10
General comments : Another Robusto but a different one. This smoke deserves to enjoyed outside your porch with a glass of Pure Malt. BTW, keep the cigar band.
Bought in December 96 at local importer. Box of 25. Cigars are in aluminium tubes.

1/2 points
Smoking it : Quick lighting, loose draw, normal burning. Very light cigar. Drawing is as easy as on a cigarette. No particular flavors.
1.5/3 points
2nd third is turning from light to mild. Pleasant but lacks of subtility. Could be a fair smoke before lunch.
2/3 points
Starting to be boring. No "news" toward the end. Simply nothing to add.
1/2 points
Total points : 5.5/10
General comments : Although this cigar is well made I don't like mild cigars. Highly recommended for beginners or cigarette smoker.

2nd part of cigar develops aromas evoking woods, herbal flavors. Kind of freshness that cuts-off the power.Tickles my palate.
2.5/3 points
The end is strong, complex. Needed to be relited twice. Maybe due to construction. Great smell of those muscular aromas (I even felt a touch of coffee).
1.5/2 points
Total points : 8/10
General comments : The only secret in this tasting is circumstantial. I smoke my first Corona Especiales on a rainy day. I was standing outside on a parking lot of the Hospital where my wife gave birth to Zackary, my son. In that case you could say :
"Great Moments make Great Cigars!!!".You are right...
A rare boxe was brought back to me from Cuba in 95. They were rolled in 94.
Smoked my last one yesterday.

2nd third is a go. Burning is superb. Ash holds fantastically without blocking drawing capacity.
I cannot define the complex aromas but they are great.
2.5/3 points
Explosive finish. My palate is addicted. Very pleasant and discreet aromas hard to define.
This cigar is full of charm. No toxicity 'till the very end.
2/2 points
Total points : 9/10
General comments : Today La Flor de Cano is well known for their small coronas (preferidos or predilectos). But some years ago, this brand was really one of the best in Cuba. Short Churchills reminds me a lot of Chateau Margaux by Davidoff (last produced in 1981). I would like to try the Diademas (Double Corona) of La Flor de Cano. Unfortunately I cannot find any.
Bought in December 96 at local retailer. Box of 25. Cigars are in aluminium tubes.
Stored in large humidor since.
size : 5 1/4" * 44

1/2 points
Smoking it : Problematic lighting, good draw, irregular burning. Taste is quite flat. Like Monte No4.
2/3 points
2nd third is fair. Full-bodied, seems to "wake-up". Burning is now even.
2.5/3 points
Cigar is getting a little to hot. Not reaching my expectation but fair smoke. The end is "sad".
Total points : 6.5/10
General comments : Better than a Monte No4. Good Construction. Could this stick become a reference??? Maybe. But could bring some cigarette addicts to cigars.(I sure well hope so...)

2/3 points
2nd part of cigar brings up strange smells of ammoniac, sign of youth but although too strong.
1.5/3 points
Last part is difficult to get over with. Cigar is getting very hot, ammoniac starting to irritate my throat. Cannot continue smoking. Too bad.
0.5/2 points
Total points : 5.5/10
General comments : This legend was a total disapointment. Habanos (State Cuban Cigar Company) has improved quantity but not quality. My stoggy was not well dried before putting into box.
Where is value for money ?

Last but not least of this marvelous cigar is straight forward. Long spicy finish. Great aftertaste.
2/2 points
Total points : 9/10

2.5/3 points
Last part is still interesting. Great smell, no toxic 'till last draw.
1.5/2 points
Total points : 9/10
General comments : It is definitly too short!!! Great all the way. Starts with power, ends in powder. That's life. I should put it before a Cohiba Robusto.

Still not coming but getting to the end. Very simple smoke. Not relevant of Cubans in general.
0.5/2 points
Total points : 5/10
General comments : Monte No4 is mass produced. No1 cigar sold in the world. Habanos cannot stick to quality for a quantity cigar. Although may please beginners.
A box of 25 bought in Geneva 03/97. FPG-NISA stamped

The second third confirms mild character. Great smell
coming out my smoke. Well balanced cigar, harmonious. Some sweet aromas
bouncing on the palate.
2/3 points
Third and last part of this Punch is even sweeter.
Delicate aromas at the end. Good burning 'till last puff.
2/2 points
Total points : 8.5/10
General comments : A great moment with this
old time classic. Punch has contributed to boost cuban cigars. I will buy
more of those and do hope they will be as good.
Few singles found in my humidor. Must be a gift by
someone who doesn't know me too well (I rarely enjoy small cigars). Singulares
is packed in aluminum tube.
size : 4 5/8" * 40
Wrapper, appearance and construction : Brownish color,
apparent veins. Not attractive.
1/2 points
Smoking it : Good lighting, medium drawing, problematic
burning. Quite flat on start. No particular aromas.
1.5/3 points
2nd part is not to appealing. Light enough to inhale.
Could be a bad morning smoke.
Burning problem is causing me to focus on drawing.
1.5/3 points
No big change. Simplicity is the main reference I
could think of. A "goes-by" cigar.
This cigar left me a great after taste.
1/2 points
Total points : 5/10
General comments : I didn't think I would
settle for average. But IT has the best a cigar can have; its a Upmann.
My taste for mild beginner stogy is very restrictive as you saw in my past
ratings.
