The Lincoln Cathedral

As I've said, Lincoln Cathedral was absolutely amazing. Just for you to know, all my pictures here were taken with no flash and with 1600 ISO film. So, if you like them, that is why. They were pretty hard to get.
The Cathedral itself is actually a third generation building. The first was built by the Normons, and its front still remains. Then it was rebuilt with Gothic architecture. The end was then rebuilt to make a shrine for St. Hugh, the man who did the rebuilding in the first place. It was a really neat place.

The Facade

This is the facade of Lincoln Cathedral. Notice the darker segments with rounded arches. That is the remains of the old church. That is all that remains.

The Stained Glass Window

This is the Stained Glass Window on the front. It depicts kings of England. The English, unlike most countries, don't depict Old Testament figures on the outside. Instead, they depict kings. That is what happens with church and state combine.

The Nave

Okay, I have to toot my own horn. I really like this photo! But seriously, the nave was absolutely amazing. I was just shocked by how grand it looked, and this isn't the first Gothic Cathedral I've been in! Maybe it is just the fact that there was nothing there except the cathedral? As you may be able to tell, the people with me thought it looked pretty awesome as well.

A view to the right...

After walking in, if you turned right, you could see the look towards one of the aisles. Just look at those arches!

The Side Aisle

This is the view from the side aisle all the way down the church. This is still taken at 50mm normal view, so this is actually how long it looks. The cool this is that you can see one of many mistakes the architects made when they built the church again. It is called "Oops Architecture." The aisle is not straight the entire way down!!!
