In 1952, a Bishop visits a penitentiary to hear a dying mans last confession. Once inside, he is locked in the confessional with the ailing Simon, a childhood friend. The inmates transform the altar into a stage and enact a tale that is familiar to both men. As the action moves between the crude prison setting and the actual events of 1912, the play reveals aspects of the Bishops life that have been hidden for forty years when the truth about one mans betrayal and anothers revenge is exposed. | |||
