Janis was born in Caracas, Venezuela.  At the age of two,
her family moved to Bogota, Colombia.  Coming from a
family of artists (her mother, Yoly, was an actress on the
well-known Venezuelan Soap Opera Feria De Vanidades),
Janis began modeling at the age of three.  Her acting
debut, at the age of six, was in a mini-series entitled
El Presente, playing Laura - the child of a wealthy
oil tycoon.

At the age of eight, Janis and her family moved to Arezzo,
Italy.There, as her mother modeled in Spain, Janis attended
a private school for the arts where she could further
explore her talents.

Four years later, her mother remarried and moved the family
to the United States. Once Janis began high school, she
enrolled in Dance, Drama and Chorus. She studied Modern
dance, Jazz and ballet, as well as, exploring interests
in Snowboarding, Skateboarding and Photography.

During her freshman year, Janis was recognized with the Focus Honor Award for best actress in the
popular Shakespeare favorite, Romeo & Juliet. Later, she was honored for her three-year involvement
in the All-County Chorus in Stafford County, Virginia, as well as receiving the Amateur Photography of
America-Kodak award for best B/W photo.

After graduating with honors in the top of her class, Janis traveled along the East Coast and became
involved in several Theatre and Improvisational groups.  She graduated from the Jan Wright Acting
On-Screen workshop, then decided to attend college.  She enrolled at the University of NC at Greensboro,
studying Photography, Graphic Design and Theatre. Shortly after, Janis began the auditioning process
with the NC Casting Directors, Corrigan & Johnston in Charlotte and Fincannon & Associates in Wilmington.
Then, while on a visit to NYC, Janis auditioned for MTV's J-Lo Wannabes and landed in the semi-finals.

And this is only the beginning!
