Janet Castle

TOTAL COST OF ENTIRE OUTFIT: £63.

PINK DRESS
Overall cost: £13
Pink A-line dress.....white buttons.....pink gingham material.....thin belt
1. Find a pink A-line dress (£10). Sorry my loves, you'll not find one with sleeves unless you're incredibly lucky. Don't worry - the cardigan will cover your arms and the sleeves are only seen at the stripping scene.
2. If there aren't any already, sew white buttons (£1) up the front of it from the waist up.
3. Using pink gingham material (£2) where possible, create and sow on cuffs and a collar.
4. Find a cheap thin belt (£1) with a buckle. Using the same gingham material, cover the belt, then attach to the dress making sure you can still get in/out of the dress.
I got Saffy to make mine for me. £60 several years ago so the price will have increased. But it *does* look good...!

WHITE CARDIGAN
Overall cost: £10.
YOU NEED: A white cardigan.
If you're lucky, this style is in season and you'll find it fine. Otherwise, you might need to go to an older-person's shop.
It is a rounded neck, with buttons going all the way up.
The material is very light, so try to avoid the winter woolies section.

Of course,
if you
do want to treat
yourself to an extra
little something...

GOLD JANET NECKLACE
Overall cost of mine: £16.95.
YOU NEED: An Argos
1. Go to the store and order the personalised necklace saying 'Janet'.
2. Remember to pick it up from the store. They should send you a note when it's ready.
If you are overseas, you may find this one difficult to get hold of. If you can't find a similar service near you, try asking some of the nice folks at Timewarpvia the forums if they can help you out.
I am really pleased with my janet necklace. Ok, so the cross at the top of the J isn't exact, but it's as near as you'll get in the UK.

FLESH TIGHTS
Overall cost: £2.50
YOU NEED: A pair of flesh tights / pantyhose. Any'll do really.

WHITE SHOES
Overall cost: £20
YOU NEED: Ebay.
These shoes are terrible to try and find. Although the style is, and has been fashionable for weddings since whenever, they are still hard to find in white. If you eventually find them out of summer season, they'll be on a wedding site, with a satin cover, and cost a minimum of £50. Most casts and conventions are quite forgiving, so if you find ANY white shoes that are similar, grab them while you can. Who cares if they hurt - invest in some plasters, you cheap skate.

WHITE HAIR CLIPS
Overall cost: 50p
YOU NEED: A couple of hair clips OR two hair clips and some white cardboard
If you see these babies, grab them, They are REALLY hard to find. I was lucky to get some off white ones for 20p each which were a God-send.
1. Cut out two circles from the white card (50p).
2. Cut out the inner circles from them, leaving a bar across the middle.
3. Sellotape the circles to the hair clips via the bar down the middle.
