I come from ages back,
Some of you have been on my back.
The spanish brought
me from Spain,
To help them hunt for gold, but all in vain.
The Indians caught
me, then taught me their ways,
I carried their teepees, squaws and braves.
I pulled the settlers
covered wagons from East to West,
Across the wide Missouri and then on West.
Across the plains
of Kansas, over the mountains of Montana,
And then the deserts of Nevada.
I've herded your cattle
on the range,
Help you brand them again and again.
I'm Commanche, Lone
Survior of The Little Big Horn,
Just one of the Great Horses to be born.
I'm Silver, the trusted
steed of the Lone Ranger.
I'm Champion, who helped Gene Autry out of danger.
I'm the famous fiction
horse of the century, The Black,
Who let a small boy upon his back.
I'm Man O'War, known
as Big Red.
I'm the Loyal Arabian who guards his master's bed.
I'm Roy Rogers' Trigger,
his famous Golden Steed,
Who helped him rescue all those in need.
Our numbers grow in
some breeds,
But the Ranchers of The New West don't want me.
I'm a lone girls dream,
When all she has left are dreams.

What a stroll down memory lane! I have often wondered what happened to
these horses (and people involved with them).I never missed watching Fury,
National Velvet, Mr. Ed, Gunsmoke,or any show with horses when I was growing
up. Wonder why there aren't new ones on TV now? I enjoy my own horses,
and wouldgive them all a home if I could. Thanks for a beautiful website.

I remember watching the old episodes of Mr. ED on Nick at Nite. I always
wondered how many hands tall Mr. ED was? If you know please e-mail me with
