New Members Join the GINLC Board

Ken Tilp
Jake Adkins
In the cold of February, 1991, Ken Tilp moved to a new job in the Downriver area. He knew the second he drove across the bridge that Grosse Ile would be his home. The trees and open space are what attracted him to Grosse Ile, as well as the small town character of the Island. An avid vegetable gardener and general nature lover, Ken joined the GINLC Board in February and was recently appointed Treasurer. He joins other board members in their interest to preserve the heritage of the island.

Ken taught foreign languages in West Des Moines for 25 years before the move to Grosse Ile.

Jake Adkins grew up on Grosse Ile. He moved to the Upper Peninsula and lived there for many years. However, Grosse Ile called him and his family "home" and they made the decision to move back to the island. As an employee of the Department of Natural Resources, Adkins learned how to preserve and enhance quality of life. He will share this knowledge and enthusiasm with members of the conservancy as part of the board.
