L’IMBOUCACIOU DE L'ANGE GARDIEN ABAN DE S'ANA DURMI
Occitan prayer (English below)

O L’Ange de ma bido,
Serbissets me de guido,
Al gran dange que cour,
E preserbats moun armo
Del pecat que nous charmo
Tant la neit que le jour.

Excitats ma paresso,
Adjutats ma feblesso ;
Quand me beirets durmi,
Se le Satan me tento,
Dounats li l’espabento
E pregats Diu per mi.

Invocation to the Guardian Angel before going to sleep

O Angel of my life,
Be my guide
In the great danger that I run,
And keep my soul
From the sin that tempts us
In the night as in the day.

Spur me out of sloth,
Strengthen my weakness ;
When I go to sleep,
If Satan should tempt me,
Frighten him,
And beseech God for me.

PRAYER OF SAINT FRANCIS

Lord, make us instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, union;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

COME HOLY SPIRIT
Latin Hymn, 12th Century

Holy Spirit, font of light, focus of God’s glory bright,
shed on us a shinning ray.
Father of the fatherless, giver of gifts limitless,
come and touch our hearts today.

Source of strength and sure relief, comforter
in time of grief, enter in and be our guest.
On our journey, grant us aid, freshening breeze
and cooling shade, in our labor inward rest.

Enter each aspiring heart, occupy its inmost part
with your dazzling purity.
All that gives to us our worth, all that benefits the earth,
you bring to maturity.

With your soft, refreshing rains, break our draught,
remove our stains; bind up all our injuries.
Shake with rushing wind our will; melt with fire
our icy chill; bring to light our perjuries.

As your promise we believe, make us ready to receive
gifts from your unbounded store.
Grant enabling energy, courage in adversity,
joys that last for evermore.
