WRX STi Edition to come to America
The long awaited STi edition of the Subaru Impreza
WRX is finally coming to the United States in 2004. For all of you who
missed it, there was a petition posted on petitions.com to bring the STi
to North America and after about 1000 signatures it looks as if Subaru
finally saw the demand.
The stats on this vehicle are outstanding but it is
to be expected from the incredible engineers at Fuji Heavy Industries
STi division. The American STi boasts 300 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and
300 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm all out of an intercooled and
turbocharged 2.5-liter boxer engine with Active Valve Control. As if
that weren't enough, the engineers at STi also gave the car a Brembo
braking system (4-wheel discs), Super Sport ABS, 17-inch BBS aluminum
alloy wheels (in gold of course) with 225/45 ZR17 summer radials, and a
complete interior and exterior STi styling package including STi/MOMO
appointments and a ground effects package.
My estimation is that the new STi should run you
around $30,000.00 MSRP, although Subaru has not released the price list
as of yet. You can expect to see the 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi in
dealers showrooms in late spring. Keep checking back to the Subaru
Sanctuary for up-to-date information as it is available and please check
out the photo gallery for pictures of the
American STi.
