Welcome to the skateboarding tips page. Here you will learn how to do new tricks, and see real pictures of people doing them. If you have any questions please email me at countzero1291@yahoo.com. some of these tricks are dangerous so be careful when you try them. Never try anything off big stuff til you really have it down. Never hold back, but be careful and have fun.
0llie
The first trick we will focus on is the ollie. An ollie is pretty much just a jump, sounds easy right? Well it isn't, it took me 2 months of hard practice just to learn it. To start put your back foot on the tail. Both of your feet should be perpendicular to the board, or at a right angel. Then put your front foot about 4 inches back from the bolts. About half of your foot should be hanging off. Then with as much force as you can push down on the tail and let it *snap*. Right when it snaps slide your front foot to the bolt, while at the same time pushing off the ground with your back. Now let the board level out, and bend your knees slitely to absord the impact of landing. Land it, and role away pumped. Now that you have the ollie try it off, and over stuff, like the picture above where they have stacked up some decks. Once you have mastered it completely you can try it off stuff, like some stairs. You can always get better, but it just takes time.
Kickflip
This is a very hard trick to learn. It is probably the second trick that you want to learn(after the ollie.) It took me a while to land this trick, so be patient. First put your back foot like you would in an ollie, with your back foot on the very back of the board. Your front foot should be on the very edge, and I put it at about a 45 degree angel. When you pop slide your foot forward, off the nose and bring it back and cetch the board with your feet. Then bend your knees, and absorb the impact. When you get good try it higher, off things, or what ever you want...The kickflip is now yours!
Pop Shove-It
This is a fun trick to do anywhere. I like to do it off a grind, or off some stairs or a curb. This is a good trick to learn on gravel so that you don't shoot out. First position your feet in the ollie position. Then *pop*, when you start to lift from the ground do a ceazar kick with your feet, meaning kicking your feet in opposite directions. Let the board spin freely in a 180, and catch it with your feet, then level it out. Bend your knees slitely to absorb the impact, and roll away.
Ollie North
This is a very fun trick to do anywhere. I like to do it off curbs, because you have more time to get your foot back on the board. To start I put my foot about like an ollie, but I have my front foot about 2 inches away from the bolts. When you pop make sure that you get a good snap, otherwise you won't be able to get enough air, and then you can't get your front foot back on the board in time. Not getting your foot back on the board is a very very painful thing, because usually your foot won't clear the board when you bring it back, and you hit it really hard. Anyway, once you pop, slide your front foot all the way to the front and off the nose of the board. Get it as far out as you can before hastely pulling your foot back and placing it back on the board before you hang up on the front. You want to make sure that your back foot is level, and that your foot slides streight off the nose and not to the side, otherwise making the board flip. bend your knees and role away! Now try kicking further out, or off higher things, then you will be the ollie north master in no time!
Manual
This is a trick that can always be improved on... You can do it to make combos, or just to see how far you can go. I have seen people who can manual 50 feet, which is very impressive. It is basiclly a wheely on your bak to wheels, and if you do it on your front wheels then it is called a nose manual. This trick is mostly practice, though I always do it with my feet pretty much like you would have them in an ollie. Go out, impress your friends, practice, and one day you will be the Rodey Mullen of manuals!
Boneless
A boneless is a very different trick... You acually reach down grab your board, and plant one foot on the ground. Next you push off with all the force you can, and then put your foot on the board in the air. There are lots over variations, so learn them all...
50-50 grind
A 50-50 is the easiest grins there is. All it you do is ollie the land on a rail with both trucks, grind, and ollie off, or drop off. Sounds easy right? Well it isn't, because getting the right ollie is kinda hard to do. Approach the rail at a slight angel. When you pop you want to get both feet over the railing with the board underneith you, front foot first. Then keep steady, and hold the board in place with your feet. Then when you start to slow down you can either drop off, or to get more air, and possibly do another trick give it some pop. This is hard to learn while moving, so start standing still, or moving slowly. I learned how to do it on a curb, standing still. It is easier backside, which is where you approach the railing facing it. An example is if you are riding goofy(where your right foot is on the front of the board) approach it from the right, or if you are regular(where your left foot is on the front of the board) it is just the opposite.
