In the U.S. we have always loved the automobile. The problem with this is that, obviously, using cars to get from place to place pollutes the environment. Henry Ford, an "American Industrialist" was one man that tried to figure out how to solve this problem.
Henry Ford is best known for creating the Model T Ford, or the "Tin Lizzie." Henry Ford did not invent the automobile, but he was the first man to be able to mass-produce an affordable and trustworthy car for the average American family. More than 15 million of Ford's Model T's were sold in about a 20-year period. The car's production had a great impact on America's economy.
Henry is "living proof" of Horatio Alger's "myth," that said, In America, it doesn't matter how poor you are, you can still "lift yourself up by your own bootstraps."
Edsel Ford, Henry's son died when he was 49, in 1943. Henry Ford died on April 7th, 1947, he was 83. Henry was the United State's first millionaire. After his death, his grandson, Henry Ford II took over the company. The Ford company still exists and it is still one of the countries leading automotive producers.
