Cedar Point
The massive first drop of Millenium Force greets guests as they travel toward the park. Cedar Point has been known to be the mecca for coaster enthusiasts. I found this park to be very large and didn't even enter the back part of the park until the afternoon. I got to the park right when the opened. Guests were eagerly waiting for it open. When I entered the park all the guests ran towards Millenium Force, leaving Blue Streak without a line.
Blue Streak:
A perfect coaster to begin your adventure at Cedar Point. This airtime laden wooden coaster offered consistent speed and is tame enough for most members of the family. Although I did find this ride to be somewhat short.
My Rating: 7
Raptor:
After Blue Streak, I went over to Raptor. This intimidating green machine hovers over the midway. As guests travel through the front of the park they are greeted by this giant inverted coaster. This exquisitely long B&M creation features a nice first drop, great vertical loop, and one of the very first cobra rolls on a coaster. The 6 inversions are well placed and the closing helix is mind blowing.
My Rating: 8.5
Mantis:
Next I traveled to this Stand Up coaster. It had a nice first drop, but had some minor braking that slowed this ride down. The vertical loop offered a nice floating sensation before traveling through it's other 3 inversions. A very fun and intense ride, but it also created some unneeded pressure on your legs which resulted in a rather uncomfortable ride at times.
My Rating: 8
Corkscrew:
This small arrow loop and corkscrew comes dangerously close to the midway. This a real short ride, but makes for a great first looper for the smaller coaster enthusiasts.
My Rating: 5
Mean Streak:
Too bad this coaster isn't near as good as it's appearance would indicate. An absolute embarassment to Cedar Point's coaster arsenal. The first drop is hindered with a huge brake and the rest of the ride is very very slow and rough, not a good combination.
My Rating: -2
Millenium Force:
An absolutely awe inspiring coaster, it will make your jaw drop at it's sheer height. The first drop is massive. At over 300 ft. tall, the drop is a mind numbing 80 degrees. The rest of the ride is filled with insanely overbanked turns, giant hills, and two great tunnels.
My Rating: 10
Magnum XL 200:
This picturesque coaster sits right on a lake. Magnum was the first coaster to top 200 feet. The first drop of 194 ft. leads into another large drop, two tunnels, a pretzel turn around, and many airtime filled bunny hills back into the station.
My Rating: 9
Wildcat:
Next I went over to Wildcat which is a nice compact Schwartzkopf creation. It's more intense than it appearance would indicate. The sudden drops were fun.
My Rating: 6
Gemini:
This steel coaster with wooden supports features a very steep first drop, a number of expected drops, and a comfortably smooth ride.
My Rating: 7.5
Cedar Creek Mine Ride:
This is one of the better mine train coasters I've ridden. It has a nice drop towards a small pond and has some nice theming. The trains were a little small and kind of painful, but it's a nice ride for younger riders.
My Rating: 5.5
Overall Park Rating: 10
Closing Comments:
This park is a real destination place for coaster enthusiasts and park enthusiasts alike. I would recommend spending two days at Cedar Point to ride their fantastic coasters and nice flat ride selection.
