FIGHTER TACTICS

Head to Head (Climb)

HEAD to HEAD basics

Gaining a height advantage

Please note: I recommend when doing this manouver to already have dropped fuel tanks and put flaps down to keep speed up. Its important to note that the angle to climb is 30 degrees from the enemy launching angle. So what does that mean ?? well look at your HUD and see where he is..is he level with you? if so then climb showing 30 degrees on your HUD. Is he -10 degrees when he fires ? If so go to 20 degrees on your HUD -10 + 20 = 30 degrees needed to avoid. Your speed should be above 550mph, the faster the better.

MAKE SURE you select GUNS EEGS before you loose sight of him..other wise switching to guns when he is out of sight will lose you a radar contact and will have to reaquire the target again. also its good to do as you might not have the time to look away to the keypad to swith to guns. You then will stay focused on the target. Use your red arrow to lead you to the target direction.

When missle passes you ROLL over on top and dive at them. Get a good bead with guns and spray in their direction.(you might take out their guns or radar this way). They will be in the position of climbing to meet and your rounds will be gravity assisted. fire at him till he passes then climb to meet him on top. his inertia will be less than yours as he tries to roll over on top to meet you. This is a critical point here for a mid air, so be carefull.

IN A REAL F-16 you have a pair of eyes to look up and keep a padlock. but this manouver has its advantages.
