“I have a dream…” On second thought, I’m not going to try to fill those shoes. It seems these days people who look like me and try to speak up get shot down…literally. But that doesn’t mean I can’t fulfill my dream silently. Ultimately, my goal is to have the definitive information website for Transformers, Robotech/Macross, Gundam, and other anime/toy franchises, as well as comic books, toys, and things of the like. These are my significant interests, and I do believe I can do a better job of it than anyone else. I just have a knack for this sort of this thing. And a website is a great way to do it...FOR FREE HAHAHA!!!! Anyways, over the next few weeks, we’ll be putting up episode reviews for anime and comic book series, summaries of said episodes, informational & character bios, toy reviews (‘cause Toys rule; ToyFare says so : ), and even some movie and video game reviews (‘cause when you think about it, they all really are one part of the same puzzle). That’s what the site will mostly consist of as far as material. As for the face, lots of pretty art(which’ll eventually make it’s way into an art gallery), and news which’ll be updated daily…okay, that’s a lie. It’ll probably happen every 2 or 3 days till we get into the swing of things.

My job sucks like that. But hopefully, something better will come along, and more money ultimately means more source material for the website to post. So if you want to donate us some $$$, thanks. If not, then bear with us. And even though we haven’t officially launched yet, let me say thanks to you, the fans of such things as Transformers & what-not. If it wasn’t for you guys, we wouldn’t have all this great stuff to talk about. So a big thanks, and I sincerely hope you enjoy the site : )

Gundam Wing ep. 01 - Summary

Generations ago, mankind started constructing orbital space colonies to begin a new era in its history. The new calendar adopted was named A.C. (After Colony).

But over time, the United Earth Sphere Alliance is established to keep the warring nations, and whoever opposes them, under control. Using mobile suits, the Alliance eventually begins to forcefully control all activity among the colonies with an iron fist. The Alliance sees the colonies as a potential threat if they were to achieve true independence.

The year is 195 A.C: the beginning of "Operation: Meteor". Five objects, disguised as meteors, are launched from different colonies towards Earth. At this time, Vice Foreign Minister Darlian is returning to Earth with his daughter, Relena. That same object is also detected by an OZ patrol craft, commanded by Special Liutenant Zechs Merquise. The object is determined to actually be a craft of some sort that’s part of Operation: Meteor. Oz a.ka. Specials is an organization within the Alliance that produces most mobile suits. Zechs, a top soldier, was dispatched to deal with this situation when word on the operation leaked.

Since Darlian’s shuttle is in the area, they can’t engage the craft. Knowing this, the pilot of the craft uses the opportunity to hasten his trip to Earth. The OZ shuttle catches up, just in time to see the craft ditch it’s outer shell to reveal a jet similar to a bird in apperance. Now that Darlian’s shuttle is out of the way, the OZ shuttle has no problem opening fire. Too fast for their shuttle, Zechs goes out in his Leo to engage the enemy unit head on. He manages to damage one of it’s engines and assumes that the conflict. As they’re about to form their plan to retrieve the jet, it decends into the sky and transfoms into a Gundam mobile suit. 2 more mobile suits, Aries, eject from the shuttle and advance on the Gundam. They open fire but are easily destroyed. Zechs charges his Leo into the Gundam and manages to tangle it up before ejecting.

The Gundam, called Wing, crashes into the ocean. Assuming the pilot couldn’t have survived the impact, they arrange for the Alliance to assist in the recovery operation. After landing, Zechs reports to Treize Khushrenada, head leader of OZ, and confirms their suspicions. The object was a Gundam, and if that was one, there are likely to be four more. While Zechs proceeds to the recovery site, Treize goes to a meeting with top Alliance officials to explain what just happened today. We learn here that OZ has plans for taking over the Alliance, and these events set those plans in motion. Meanwhile, Relena is walking home after her father leaves for a meeting with Gen. Ceptem, head of the Alliance ground forces. On her way, she sees a prone body on the beach. Upon investigation, he regains consciousness. He’s the pilot of Wing. After Relena sees his face, he attempts to kill himself, but his suits explosive device is dampened by the water and sand. He immediately assaults the just-arrived medics and steals their van.

At that very same, all 4 of the other Gundams: Deathscythe piloted by Duo Maxwell, Heavyarms piloted by Trowa Barton, Sandrock piloted by Quatre Raberba Winner, and Shenlong Nataku piloted by Wufei Chang, have all landed and immediately attack the nearest OZ facilities. There are no survivors left, though an OZ spy plane manages to get a few pictures of Shenlong Nataku.

This confirms that there are 5 Gundams all told, and that Operation: Meteor has begun. The next day, Relena returns to school only to find a new student in Heero Yuy, the pilot of Wing. Wanting to be friendly, Relena invites him to her birthday party the next day. Heero not only turns her down, but reveals that he intends to kill her.

Gundam Wing ep. 01 - Review

The Shooting Star she Saw – It’s a really fast start to this, the second AC Gundam series. Already, it’s easy to see the similarities between this and UC Gundam. But a big twist here is the fact the colonies are the victims, as well as the good guys. The Wing Gundam bears similarities to the classic RX-78-2, so we already know it and Heero Yuy will be the most pivotal of characters. As far as what’s going to happen, I assume it’ll be bloody. It’s obvious that these Gundams are virtually indestructible, and that their pilots are just as dangerous. Though only 15 in age, each one of them is leaps & bounds beyond any soldier on Earth including Zechs.

We know they’re all highly trained, judging by Heero’s actions. With that said, it’s certain that he will kill Relena when the opportunity presents itself. As for the other 4 pilots, we didn’t get as much of them this episode. This was really Heero’s episode. And based on what we’ve seen, he seems to be the perfect soldier, and has no problems getting the job done. Judging by their information, it would seem Treize knows more than even the Alliance about what’s going on. Now that the Gundams are on the attack, he’ll waste no time in setting up the Alliance for it’s fall.

As far as animation goes, this series is exceptional especially for a TV series. And the soundtrack is the greatest I’ve ever heard period. Combined with the intense action and exceptional voice acting, all of this promises to be one of best Gundam series ever easily.
