Germany and Europe - Summer of 1999

I worked for BMW in a small town, Dingolfing, Germany, about an hour outside of Munich. It was quite crazy working with all these rough looking German guys that spoke Bavarian, which normal Germans even have a hard time speaking. I did make some good friends and had a great time even though the language barrier was tough to deal with. I lived with 3 other Americans in an apartment and 9 total in our complex which wasn't so good because we spoke so much English. We made weekend trips to Prague, Salzburg, Berlin for the Love Parade and Amsterdam. My old friend Jens Schwebach, two of our friends Jens Bellman and Sascha Trueltzsch, and myself went on a road trip through Switzerland and northern Italy. We cooked our own food with a propane stove, slept on the beach then woke up, drove a bit further, then did it again. Then I finished up my last couple weeks in Vienna, Venice, Rome, Paris, Zurich, Wiesbaden and Groningen, Holland. I cut the UK and Ireland out because I didn't have enough money and was sick of traveling alone and decided to stay with friends in 'real' houses. I was glad to finally be home by the end of the summer.
