Part 2 Of Journey

August 16, 2002
Today was the day that I had been awaiting. We were going to historical Colonial Williamsburg. The tours through the houses were very good. I liked how the tour guides talked as though they actually lived during the times.

For lunch we went to Shields Tavern. We all had a wonderful time in there. Of course the waitresses were dressed according to the clothing of the times. While waiting to be served a Gentleman came in  and introduced himself to all of us as the proprietor of the inn. He also spoke to us as if we were in that time era. He was talking about different neighbors and things that were happening to them. Asked us where we were from, and upon learning that we were from NJ, he started talking about the Jersey Devil, and how they had sent people to exercise the devil out of the child that was possessed. I think that we spent more time laughing then eating in this restaurant.

Then as fate would have it, the rains started again so we just headed back to the hotel room so that we could pack for leaving in the morning.

It didn't take very long to get packed and on our way today. We knew that we had a long trip ahead of us today. We estimated about 9 hours. Not taking into consideration that our trip up the skyline drive would take us North East instead of North West! Adding about 5 additional hours to our travel time.

Today's traveling  would take us through Va., W Va., Pennsylvania and finally into Ohio, to our destination.

The skyline drive was beautiful. We couldn't get on at the beginning like we had intended to do because during the night they had a rock slide in the middle of the skyline drive. So we had to take a detour and arrive on the skyline drive around the middle of it.

When we finally exited the skyline drive we realized that we still had many of hours ahead of us in regards to travel time. We still weren't even close to Pa. When finally we got onto the turnpike we realized that we weren't going to be arriving in Ohio at our destination  until about 2 am. We began our Journey at 10:am that morning. When we finally arrived in Ohio it was close to 2 am. We unloaded the car and finally hit the beds. This had been the longest of days!

August 18-23,2002
The rest of our vacation was spent at My husbands Uncles house in Canal Fulton Ohio. We spend almost every summer out here. Uncle Ron lives in a very quiet area with a lake as part of his back yard. We love fishing off his deck. Unfortunately the fish weren't very hungry this year.

During our stay in  Ohio we usually visit the race track so that the kids get to ride the race cars. We tour all the cheese factories and  Amish things that they have in the area.

Friday August 23 we headed home. I was looking forward to getting home. Vacations are wonderful and fun, however, there is definitely no place like Home!!
