| Students are trained in Traditional Northern Chinese Praying Mantis Kung Fu. We offer a variety of classes for students of all ages and levels. For adults, classes are tailored to meet work schedules. For children, classes are scheduled around school and on the weekend. We maintain small classes, so as to allow instructors to work with each student. Our staff is continuously trained to focus on students of all levels. We provide facilities at the school, so that you can even come straight from work. | |

Students will find that there is a class for everyone. We design classes to ensure that you will not feel left behind or lost. Our group classes range from traditional kung fu exercises and forms training to circuit training, self defense, body conditioning, and acrobatics. In addition, students will find that our school is equiped with weights, training bags, focus pads, and stretching machines. Choose the right class for your needs. See Schedule. Top |

Students also have the opportunity to arrange private instruction with Sifu Rosen. This program allows unlimited attendance at group classes plus a private lesson each week. Private Instruction allows more intensive focus and personalized training for the student. Some students may prefer the one-on-one atmosphere to group classes. Contact Us for further information or to schedule time for a lesson. |

In addition to tradtional Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu, we offer private training in Tai Chi. Many people prefer the slower, relaxed movements of Tai Chi as opposed to the rigourous, energetic movements of Kung Fu. Tai Chi is a rewarding exercise for developing internal strength and focus. Contact Us for more information or to set up lessons. |

Students will have the opportunity to not only learn empty hand forms but also to train with weapons during group classes and private instruction.. Students begin with the stick and work their way up through such weapons as the broadsword, flute, spear, and tiger fork. In addition, we teach double handed weapons such as double broadsword, double daggers, and double hooks among others. Weapons training is closely supervised, and we provide a place for students to keep their weapons at the school. Weapons are purchased through the school to ensure quality. |

Wah Lum Boston is located in the heart of Chinatown. As such, we are actively involved in many cultural shows and parades. Lion Dancing is a traditional form of entertainment and celebration in Chinese culture. Students will have the unique opportunity to learn how to use the lion for such shows. The big bang comes during Chinese New Year in February where students will have the opportunity to lion dance for crowds of people amidst fireworks in Chinatown. |

As your training progresses, you may have the opportunity to participate on the Boston Demo Team. The team is invited to do lion dancing, fighting sets, weapons forms, and empty hand forms. They perform in many competitions and festivals as well. The demo team trains for professional performance. The picture on the right is taken from a demo in China. The Boston team visited the Shaolin Temple and the surrounding schools. (We are the ones wearing the dark red shirts.) For newer students, however, there are still many opportunities to perform. Our school is often invited to do demonstrations and lion dances at many schools and festivals. We even have the kids performing in front of everyone! |

Students who continue to train with Wah Lum may one day decide to open a school of his or her own. The Instructor's Program is geared toward these advanced students who are training to become a Sifu (teacher). Students learn many of the aspects of running and maintaining a school. They help teach classes and work with students. They focus on many of the intricacies of the style. If you are transferring from another school, talk to Sifu Rosen about the Instructor's Program. |

Wah Lum Boston is well known for its iron palm demonstrations. Iron Palm involves training to break concrete bricks. Sifu Rosen is a recognized authority in Iron Palm technique. For the advanced student, this program requires intensive training and sacrifice. The results are well worth the effort. Along with Iron Palm demonstrations, Boston is well known for its quiqong displays. Such performances require months of mental and physical preparation. They are not only a display of external skill but also internal focus. |
