Most of the programs you need are probably on your computer if you have Windows 95 or up. Here are a few programs you might have:
FrontPage Express
Microsoft Word 2000
Microsoft Publisher 2000
Notepad or Wordpad
FrontPage Express is often hard to find, it is probably easiest to do a search for it. Go to Start > Find > Files or Folders and search for frontpage.
FrontPage Express is probably the simpelest one out of these, because it is actually a program made for website making.
Microsoft Word 2000 and Microsoft Publisher 2000 are in Microsoft Office.
For Microsoft Word 2000 just make an ordinary page and put any pictures, words etc. you want and then go to File > Save as Webpage.
For Microsoft Publisher 2000 you can choose a website layout in the Microsoft Publisher Catalog, and then save as webpage, like Microsoft Word.
Notepad or Wordpad are usually under Start > Programs > Accessories and they should be there somewhere.
But if you are going to use Notepad or Wordpad for making your website you will need to know HTML. Here are some HTML sites that can start you off.

Just put in your HTML and save it as "whatever.html" make sure you put it in speech marks.
Once you have built your website, and got a web host, what next?? Well you then have to stick it up on the internet.
geocities will host your site for free if you need a host.
| Netscape | CuteFTP |
Many people don't realize that the Netscape Navigator Web browser can also upload pages to a Web server. Follow these steps:
1. Enter the address of your Web directory in Netscape Navigator's Location box, as in the following example:
ftp://myname:mypassword@siteaddress.com/home/web/wherever/
Put your account name and password for accessing the site instead of myname and mypassword, the FTP address for your site instead of siteaddress. com, and the top-level directory where yourweb pages reside instead of /home/web/wherever/.
2. Select File, Upload File, as shown in Figure 4. 1. (If you are using Netscape Navigator version 2 or 3, you must drag the file into the Netscape window from Windows Explorer or another file management program because the Upload File menu choice is new in Navigator version 4.)
3. Choose the file you want to upload and click Open. Wait while the files are transferred.
4. Test your page by clicking the HTML file you just uploaded in the FTP directory listing (in the Netscape window). You're on the Web!
Even though Netscape Navigator can send files to any Web server on the Internet, specialised FTP programs such as CuteFTP and WS-FTP offer much more control
for managing your Web pages. For example, Navigator doesn't give you any way to delete an old Web page or change the name of a Web page on the server computer. For these reasons, you'll definitely want something more than Navigator to maintain your Web site.
A Great FTP program and very easy to use. Download it and read more about it at http://www.cuteftp.com/
Once you have made your site, you need people to go to it. Here are two great ways to bring people to your website
1. Startblaze. Go to http://www.startblaze.com/cgi-bin/start.cgi?81863 and sign up to the startblaze thing on the top left corner, by clicking on "log into my account" and then clicking "sign me up"
2. Exitexchange
Just click on the picture and it will take you towards a lot more people!!
