What to do in Neopia, Volume 1:

We're going to start off with one of my favorite worlds, and I think the prettiest :

Yes! Faerieland. We'll start on the main page and work our way into the city.

Looking to make some extra dough? Win some prizes? Get a really nifty avatar? This is the place to do it. It costs 150 a spin, and you can do it once every two hours. Let's try it!

Well, I got my pets healed, which is good, because one of them was suffering from Neoblues, and hell if I can afford to spend 80K on a cure. Sorry, _Farfarello__, but that's just a bit out of my league. Also, if you get 10,000np on the Wheel, you get this spiffy avatar! Whee! Look at it go!

Next up is

It's the Faerie Petpet shop. If you're lucky, you can get some before they're all sold out. There are some real cuties, like a Floud, or that one that's shaped like a cloud that I can't remember the name... Bah. Well, if you're lucky, you'll get some. If not, check the shop wizard.

Got some time to kill? Why not try coloring? If you have a working printer (unlike me), you can even print out your creations and brag how you made an Aisha five different colors. There are a few different pets to color, but not every species is here.

This is one of the best things to do, especially if you just got whomped in the battledome. You can visit this every hour or so, and she'll either restore your pets HP fully, or give you a little boost. You can also win potions and snowballs from here. She has a shop underneath the healing spring button, but just between you and me? It's a lot cheaper to check out the shop wizard.

We have to hurry here - I didn't get a Level 26 quest item for her a while ago, and she's still a little miffed at me. Jhudora's quests are just like Illusen's (We'll get to her in another article), although she's a dark faerie, and, y'know. Evil, and all. There's two avatars for Jhudora's Quests: , which you get at Level 20, and , which I believe is either a random event, or only available on Jhudora Day (Feb 4)

Consider yourself lucky if you come here. A Rainbow Faerie quest is very random, but if you complete it and head over, you can paint any of your pets any color you want to. (I painted my Usul baby. Too cute.)Also, if you have a Buzz and paint it at the Rainbow fountain, you get this spiffy avatar! Otherwise, for us non-quest-getters, it's just fun to look at.

A game - Faerie Cloud Racers. Not my cup of tea, but here's the description:

Hop into your Cloud Racer, and try to head your opponent off with your thick smoke trails. Use the arrow keys to navigate the racer. Try and last as long as possible against a variety of opponents without hitting either the walls or either of the two smoke trails left by your racers.

Here, you can bet on Poogles, or just come to watch them race. If you do bet, be sure to bring a snack for these neopets, though. Maybe something healthy, or high in sugar - You decide! The races happen every fifteen minutes, and make sure to choose the right one! You could make out like a bandit on this one!

Now, into the city!

Pretty, huh? Now, I know you are all looking for the hidden tower.. don't worry. I'll show you. It's just to the left of the main castle. Slowly move your mouse across until you find it.

Or,y'know, just click on the picture below.

She sells a lot of really expensive items - if you're looking to get the Fyora avatar
(), though, it's the only way to go. The cheapest items are the Enchanted Kiko Squeeze Toy (544K) and the Baby Paint Brush (600K)

The Faerie Food shop. Great food at decent prices, but as always, check out the shop wizard first.

This is where you go to complete a random Faerie quest. If you need to find the item, you can either switch to another account, or do what I do, and ask a friend to find it for you. The quests used to be easier to get, but now you'll probably get one every now and then. The reward depends on the faerie : The Light Faerie ups your pet a level, The Water Faerie raises defense, the Fire Faerie ups strength, the Earth Faerie fills your pet up, the Air Faerie makes your pets speedier, and the Darkness Faerie adds a couple extra HP. The Faerie Queen makes your pets a lot stronger.

Every day, a new crossword puzzle filled with clues about Neopets. If you finish it in under 5 minutes, you get 600np! And it's free! Even if it takes you more than 15 minutes to do, that's still 200np. The answers are posted every day on the front page of Neohelpers.net, so good luck with that 600np!

Fun books about faeries to read to your pet! I wouldn't worry about going to the shop wizard for these . For the most part, books are cheaper in-store, since they're a one-use product now. Don't forget - once you read it to a pet, it's gone. So if you have a rare book, make the right choice.

Ah, the Employment agency. A nice idea, except -you- do all the work. Basic jobs, for us poor schlubs, happen every ten minutes, and if you're not there at -exactly- the right time, poof. Most of the jobs are easy, but the thing is to choose the right job before all the good ones disappear.

If you're lucky enough to own a job coupon, you can get great jobs. However, these job coupons are unbuyable, so we'll just hope Neopets gives some more out soon. (The tickets below are in order from lowest to highest)

These are like the coloring sheets outside the city, but aren't as interactive. You have to print these out before you can color them. But they're pretty cool pictures.

Here there are pictures of what pets can be painted with faerie paint brushes. Some pretty cool ones, too. My five favorites: (alphabetical order)

Our last stop - the game with my faaaaavorite avatar in it. () It's a Math game, so have a calculator handy, and score the mixed question option to score the most points.

Hope you guys had fun, see you next week!

Neohelpers Article for April 4th, 2004
How to make 10,000np in one day

Well, it's pretty simple, and I'll give you a quick rundown on how to make as many NP as you can, just from games. Let's start in the "Action" games. I've put any NP I had into the bank, so I'm starting with 0np - a clean slate.

Bumper Cars - 100np for every 100 points scored. It's a fairly easy game, and once you get the trick of it, you can really start rakin' in the points. At least 500np a day.

Game #1: 539 points (539np)

Game #2: 443 points (443np)

Game #3: 483 points (483np)

Tips: Be the blue car - The arrow keys are much easier to navigate than any of the others. Don't go after the gas cans, and make sure you go after the wrenches and motors. Also, try and get one of the other cars onto the mines, but don't get on one yourself. Try to stay away from the walls - it's 5hp each time you hit.

Total NP so far: 1, 465np

Next game!

This game might not be on for very long, since it's a sponsor game, but it's really easy. Most of the answers are, anyway. Sponsor games are usually good for NP, because they give 100np per point scored, and they're usually really easy - you can score 500 points in most of them, no problem. This game is 75np for every 100 points scored.

Game #1:620 points (465 np)

Game #2:600 points (450np)

Game #3:620 points (465np)

Tips: Play one game as a novice, and then go on to Expert - if you get the bonus, play that as well. Don't worry about the time, just get them right.

Total NP so far: 2,845

Next game!

Woo! Defender Trainer. This is a -great- way to make NP. It has a 200np for every 100points ratio, so it's easy to make about 1,500 at least from this game.

Game #1:484 points (968np)

Game #2:434 points (868np)

Game #3:525 points (1000np)

Tips: Start off in Easy, and then do a game in Medium before going into Hard - Just to get a feel for the game. Send your score in Hard, though. You'll earn plenty more NP that way. Something that might help is keep your cursor in the middle of the board (if you're in hard), and then move it to the appropriate square. When you're done, move it back. It saves you from going all over the board to get the right answer. Might even save time.

Total NP So Far: 5,681np!

On to...

Meerca Chase -which is actually the Featured Game for today - double the NP. Awesome.

Game #1: 168 points (336np)

Game #2: 208 points (416np)

Game #3: 192 points (384np)

Tips: Try it on hard, but be ready to move in case a red negg pops up right in front of you. You might want to practice in easy or medium first.

Total NP so far:6817np!

Now,

This has a very good NP output (600np for every 100 points.)If you can manage to get your points high enough, you can really get a lot of NP here.

Game #1:102 points (612np)

Game #2:53 points (318np)

Game #3:23 points (138 np)

Tips: Try to make as many mines blow each other up as you can. And if a whirlpool appears, get as far away from it as possible, and maybe pick up a dubloon on your way if you can.

Total NP so Far:7885np

This is actually one of my favorite games, and I'm getting pretty good at it. It has a 75np for every 100 points ratio, which isn't as good as Dubloon Disaster, but once you get quick enough, you can earn a fair bit off of this game.

Game #1:966 points (724np)

Game #2:1028 points(771np) (

Game #3:1056 points (792np)

Tips: Try and keep away from the air combo if you can. Fire combos are best, especially if you have a lot of bubbles around. Try and shoot at a pair or trio of bubbles that's at the very top to dislodge a whole group of them.

Total NP So Far:10,172!!

We did it! Woo!

Other Game Suggestions: Extreme Herder, Pyramids, Sakhmet Solitaire, Any Sponsor games, Hassee Bounce, Turmac Roll, Ultimate Bullseye

And remember: The only thing easier than earning 10,000np a day? Spending 10,000np a day.

Proper Manners on the Trading Post

Everyone uses the trading post now and then - when they get a rare item that's too expensive to put in a shop, or when they want to give someone else neopoints. Whatever the reason, it's easier than pricing out single items sometimes.

But there are plenty of rude people, and here are some DO's and DON'Ts for the trading post to make sure you have nice, happy transactions.

I'll start off with the most annoying thing. When you have a trade going and you've been waiting a while for it to be bid on, and all of a sudden someone makes a bid! Oh, Happy Day! You go and look, and it's a bid worth about 1% of what your item's worth. For example: Going to check out what someone bid on my Brown Broadberry (Worth 250,000np) and seeing someone bid a Rotten Berry (worth 1np) on it. I'm almost to the point of making a list of the people who've given me junk bids and publicly posting it on here. Maybe.

Everyone who's posted on the trading post has gotten one, too. Either they think we're stupid, or they are. So that's a major DON'T. Respect your fellow Neopians.

Don't use the TP to advertise your guild. That's not what it's for - there are neoboards and the noticeboard for that. It's just spam and it's rude.

Do take the time to check out other people's lots if you're looking for a certain item. Or even check out the shop wizard to get a general idea of the price. You could even contact the seller as well, see if they're willing to accept a little less - most of the time, they probably will if they're desperate to get rid of the item.

Do put in a wishlist of what you want - people don't know what to give you if you don't say something. NP, items, stamps, paint brushes, codestones, map pieces.. depending on the price of the item, these things could apply.

So just keep these things in mind, and don't be a twit.

You need the right amount of NP to buy something in someone's shop, why should you give them less to buy an item in the trading post?

Avatar listings - Article for March 21st, 2004
Well, as of my last count, I’m up to sixty-one avatars. Still not good enough to get into the top fifty or what-have-you, but sixty-one is still pretty good! So now I’ll share with you my tips on how to get the ones that I have, and show you which ones are on my “must-have” list. These are in the order in which I got them.

Update!: This one was released for Shoyru Day on April 2nd - All you need to do is bless your shoyru (any color) with a bottled faerie (Do -not- use a dark faerie. I've been told this doesn't work. I used an Earth Faerie for mine.)

1. This one's a twofer. Click here and watch the advert to get them both.I have to warn you though - it's creepy.

2. The first of two Angelpuss avatars. All you need to do is equip your pet with an Angelpuss and refresh the quick ref page. It might come up the first time, or take a while. Don't refresh too quickly - check your chat preferences every now and again.

3. To get this one, you'll need to go here . You may need to enter the building if you haven't been there before.

4. Pirate Krawk! Woo. Click here for it.

5. Another one that's as simple as clicking. Go to This room in the academy.

6. Another Pirate one. Go to this room for it.

7. This one’s easy. All you have to do is go to This room and your avatar will be waiting for you.

8. This one's actually quite pretty. Click here to read her story and get her avatar.

9. The next Angelpuss one. I think this one's much nicer, frankly. You need to go to an item lookup of an Angelpuss

10. I like the coloring in this one. Pretty simple, all you need to do is find a Faerie Grundo. Like this one.

11. To get this one, you need to have a Maraquan Krawk. Hee, just kidding. You just need to look one up. Like this one perhaps?

12. You just need to go to the .. *ahem* "wisdom" section of the Mystery Island Training Center

13. Just go to the pound and visit Doctor Death to get this avatar. Don't disown your pets, though. They love you. And they'll guilt you to no end.

14. Another click-and-get avatar. Go here

15. I love Illusen, and this is such a pretty avatar. You need to complete level 20 of her quests to get it.

16. What you used to have to do is just go in and post "squawk" in any message on any board, but they changed it. What you have to do now is: Go to you chat preferences and change everything to the default settings - signature, html, avatar, everything. Save those changes, and then go to post a new message. Make squawk the title of the post and the message. That's all. You should get the avatar.

17. Ew. Dung. For this one, you need to have ten different dung items in your inventory. Luckily, dung items are really cheap. (I wonder why?). Some suggestions: Chewing Dung (50-75np), Dung Shelf (300-400np), Dung Reclining Chair (300-400np), Half Eaten Dung Jelly (50-75np), Dung Box (300-475np), Dung Cream Sandwich (1-5np), Dung Cake (200-300np), Dung Arm Chair (400-500np), Dung Sofa (400-500np), Dung Table (400-500np)

18. Need to have 8 different "orange" items in your inventory and then refresh until you get it. Some suggestions: Non-Magical Orange Chia Pop (about 200-300np), Orange Skeith Stamp (about 350-450np), Bottle of Orange Sand (5-10np), Orange Cap (600-700np), Orange Invisihat (200-300np), Orange Sweetie (100-200np), Orange Neodrops (800-1000np), and of course, Orange (75-100np). You might find other ones, but these are the cheapest items I found when I was looking today.

19. You need to have each of the ten codestones (original, not red) in your inventory at once. Always refresh the shop wizard to get the right price. Sometimes you might even catch a codestone selling for 100np. Don't worry if you spend a few thousand - after all, you can always sell them again right after!(The original ten are: Lu, Vo, Eo, Main, Zei, Orn, Har, Bri, Mau, and Tai-Kai)

20. All you need to do is beat Capara (round one) in "Cheat", and she's pretty easy to beat. Just make sure you catch her cheating at least once (pay attention to your cards - if you have three fives and she says she has two fives, easy peasy.)

21. This one is my favorite avatar, and the one that I use on the boards. You need to get in the top 50 scoreboard of Math's Nightmare . If you're quick enough, have your computer's calculator open and switch from window to window as you need to, but if not, have a calculator sitting beside you and be ready to type in the answers. Choose the mixed categories, as they give you more points.

22. It -was- get 1000 points in Sutek's Tomb, but they changed it the next day, and it is now to get 2000 points or more.

23. Can't have Illusen without Jhudora , can we? Course not. Same deal, you need to complete level 20.

24. Skill? No. Luck? Yes. Excitement? Eh. Maybe. Once the lava ghoul stops hurting my bloody pets. You need to win 10,000np from the Wheel of Excitement for this lovely avatar. (I actually really like this one). If you don't get it, you can play every two hours, but it's 150np a spin, so it can add up.

25. Have a Blue Evil Fuzzle in your inventory and get your pet to play with it until it frightens them. It takes a -long- time, so don't worry if you don't get it right away. Be patient.

26. I was lucky enough to get this on the first day it came out - you need to get a perfect score of 24 in Bilge Dice , but it's a random event, so it might take you a few 24's to get this avatar.

27. This avatar is retired as of December 4th. It was an advent calendar prize.

28. Ah, her highness Fyora. You need to buy something from the Hidden Tower to get this. I chose to buy the Baby Paint Brush. In this case, cheapest is best. Right now, the cheapest thing in there is the Enchanted Kiko Squeeze Toy (544,000), and the Baby Paint Brush is at 600K.

29. You need to equip your pet with a Meowclops (about 100,000np). What you may need to do if you can't afford one is see if someone is maybe loaning theirs out on the trading post . Sometimes, they'll let you have it for collaterial (an item worth the same as the item they're lending you in case you try and rip them off) and maybe a small fee. Just refresh the quick ref page and voila! Avatar.

30.Go to the Soup Kitchen and make sure your pets are dying or very hungry. Feed them, and you should get the avatar.

31. Buy some "Cheese", and then buy a "Drackonack". Refresh your inventory until he eats the cheese. It took me forever until I found out that you had to have the cheese to the left of the Drackonack for him to eat it. I guess because it's the way he's facing. Hm.

32. I love this avatar too. Just the color is really nice. (I'm a big fan of bluesy colors.)To get this avatar, go to the Weather Report on Terror Mountain with an Icy Snowflake in your inventory.

33. This one took me a while to get - you need to buy something from the Chocolate Factory with a rarity of 90 or more. I bought a Rotten Egg Grarrl Gobstopper to get mine. You need to buy it from the shop itself to get the avatar. Buying the item out of a user's shop will not get you anything.

34. Have a "Chokato (TCG)" card in your inventory and refresh it.

35. Get a ticket to a Sticks N Stones concert and go to see the concert at the Concert Hall . The concert dates are random, so check back there every day - beware, tickets sell out fast!

36. Feed a Snorkle Snout to your pet. They're pretty expensive, about 35,000np-40,000np, but if you're quick, you can get them at the Haunted Fairground Spooky Snacks Shop

37. Get a Nerkmid and head over to the Alien Aisha Vending Machine with it. Basic Golden Nerkmids are about 65,000np. (Note: I just did it and got an Ultimate Nerkmid, which is worth about 100,000np. Awesome.)Careful, though, because a lot of times, you get useless items. (Note: I just did it again and won a Golden Nerkmid X. O_O)

38. Whee! I love this avatar, it's so cute. You need to have a Snowbunny attached to your pet for a full year (365 days).

39. This avatar was retired as of January 14th, 2004. It was in honor of Sloth's Day, and you had to do a quiz on him to get it.

40. Ladies and Gentlemen, start your spending! You need to have 1000 different items in your Safety Deposit Box. Try and get the items that you would get as booby prizes from Tombola, Gross Foods, this year's advent calendar prizes, anything from your neohome, trading card album, or neodeck. You can always put those things back. Omelettes are great, too - buy three of one kind, and eat 2/3 of one, 1/3 of another, and that way - you have three different items.

41. The day that they re-did Gadgadsgame, they also released this cool new avatar. To get it, you need to score over 1000, which is harder than it sounds.

42. Okay, so one of my friends did it for me. Thaaaank you, Dylan ^_^ *waves* To do this, do it on Super Hard mode and have a good anagram solver handy in another window. My suggestion is Wordsmith.Org's anagram solver. Works great for me. (Note: You can also use it for Word Poker if you're quick enough)

43. Get an item from the hidden tower worth over a million NP and fill your inventory with cheap items. Refresh your inventory until you get the avatar. I used the Mystery Palm Shield, and was lucky enough to find someone nice enough to lend it to me.

44. Use a transmogrification potion on your pet. It doesn't have to be the same species as your pet, either - you could use a techo transmogrification potion on a cybunny if you wanted to.

45. Go to the "help" section and in the search area, type in "avatar" or "avatars". You'll either get it right away, or you'll have to refresh the result page a few times.

46. This avatar is retired as of February 4th, 2004. You had to do one of Jhudora's quests to get it. (Sadly, I left off at Level 20 from the -other- Jhudora avatar and had to do Level 21 to get this one. Cost a bundle.)

47. This avatar is retired as of Valentine's Day, 2004. You had to send a Valentine's greeting to someone and have the message be "I love you" (although I'm not sure if it was just sending the Neogreeting itself that gave you the avatar or not.)

48. This one took forever. Buy a "Kasuki Lu" trading card and then, to get him as a challenger, simply click on the card, and then you can re-sell it. Stock up on Sticky Snowballs and head into the battledome. Hit him with two at once and a fierce attack. Hopefully this'll knock him out, but if your pets are like mine, they'll knock each other out. Took me probably about 13 tries to get the bugger down. I think it's a cute avatar, though.

49. Hah! Finally an avatar I can do! All you have to do is go play Neoquest II, and get beaten by a Plains Lupe on your first try. To do this, just click on the "5 seconds" button. Don't attack him. Make sure you click on the continue button to get your avatar.

50. Yay, my 50th avatar! Feed your Elephante a bag of peanuts (35,000np) and get this snazzy addition to your collection.

51. This one's cute too - All you have to do is take your Kacheek to The Beach and you'll get it. Ah, free avatars.

52. Have a Skeith eat a skeith item (Use a Skeith Juice Cocktail, they sell for about 25-100np). Or you could use a Skeith Morphing Potion on one of your pets like I did. (My shoyru went from a Skeith to a Kacheek to an Elephante and is now happily a Christmas Bruce)

53. I was so happy when I got this one. My pets were too, because there was no more level-changing for them! You need to go to see Count Von Roo and play his deadly dice to get this. Roll the same dice as him, and then win the tie breaker. Your pet will go up two levels, and you'll get this awesome avatar, too. You can do this only from Midnight-1am NST, and once for each of your pets. Careful, though, because he can take the avatar away from you if you lose to him again.

54. This avatar is retired as of March 4, 2004. You had to go to the Neopedia article about Gadgadsbogen to get it.

55. This one's a little tricky. You need to go to play Pick Your Own and get six non-dug items. It could be a rotten berry and five pieces of barbed wire. As long as it's not dung, you're fine.

56. Have any species of Slorg attached to your pet for 100 days (2500+ hours). I used a Snow Slorg, but any type will do. It's kinda cute, isn't it?

57. EE! I love this one! It's retired as of March 17th, 2004. You had to do an Illusen Quest on that day to get it.

58. AAH! I finally got it. You need to buy something from the Clothing Shop that's a rarity of 80 or more to get this. I bought Orange Cap to get mine.

59. Same idea as the Sticks N Stones one - you need to buy a ticket to see Chomby and the Fungus Balls at the Tyrannian Concert Hall - tickets were 750 when I bought them and I sold mine for 29,000 later that day ^_^ yay! They're cheaper now, though.

60. Yay! I got this one a couple of days ago ^_^ I was playing Pyramids and something came up on the top of my screen that said Sloth had deemed me worthy of using his image on the neoboards. It's completely random, so it could happen at any time.

My Avatar Wish List

1. I have been working so long and spent so much NP on this one, it's not funny. It's a completely random event when you do one of Edna's quests. You might be lucky and get it on your first few tries. You can do 10 quests a day, and sometimes you'll get even luckier and get a decent item from her in return for the quest.

2. You have to have a "Malevolent Sentient Poogle Plushie (TCG)" in your inventory to get this avatar. I'm still trying to find someone who's selling it at a decent price. Soon, I hope.

3. You have to get on the top 50 score board,or get a trophy at Escape from Meridell Castle.

4. Win a game of Better Than You to get this one. So far, they're all better than me. BTY updates on Thursdays, and only the first 5000 people get prizes.

5. Go to the About Us page and have exactly the same amount of Neopoints as Adam. He's at about 15 million, so good luck!

6. You have to tell King Skarl a joke and make him laugh enough to get 800 points to get this avatar. So far, I've been unlucky. Hey, your highness! A rabbi and a duck walk into Disneyland...

7. Beat a Devilpuss in Chapter Five of Neoquest 2.

8. Am I the only one who didn't know this petpet existed until the avatar came out? Oi. Well, it's over 800,000np.. And you need to have it attached for about 225 days to get the avatar.

9. Once you get to Tournie Level 9 in Cellblock, it's a random event.

Special Mention

For the avatar no one knows how to get, a month and a half later...
