After you download a movie Media file, You must convert and encode it befor you can burn it to a cd-r or dvd-r to be played back on a dvd player. Most 1st generation DVD players dont play vcd's and svcd's, they have to be perfect DVD burns in order to work. Second generation dvd players arnt as picky most will play vcd,svcd and even cvd. Mpeg movies are usually mpeg-1 encoded and wont need to be encoded unless the audio is off after you burn it. Avi file showever will need to be converted. COnverting programs are simply to use and most work fairly quick depending on your computers power. The best converting program avaliable is TmpgEnc. It will convert avi to mpeg and even mpeg 2 witch is SVCD. Often tho with Tmpg is that there is sound loss or the sound is late, often by a few seconds. The best way to cure that problem is to download Virtual Dub. You can use virtual Dub to open the media fil ethen save teh sound seperate as a .wav file. This usually only takes a few minuts. Then open Tmpgenc and combine the cideo with tne new audio source. This should give you a good clean conversion.
Often befor or after you convert you may want to Merge or Join two files togather to make one Movie file as most movie files are offerd in 2 or 3 parts. You may also need to split a large file into 2 or 3 parts in order to make a VCD on a normal cd-r disk. To do such you will need File join/split tools. There are a few listed below.
