We live in a violent world. It has got that way because we have indulged the power hungry and allowed them to dominate human relationships. A commitment to avoiding violence, and the glorification of violence that passes for entertainment on our televisions and cinemas, is an essential first step to eradicating the culture of violence that has a grip on the throat of our very survival as a species. Violence may have once been a survival tactic, essential for our ancient ancestors, but in today’s complex world, where lethal weapons are so readily and cheaply available, we can no longer afford to allow our primate instincts to come so readily to the fore in our dealings with each other.
Glorifying violence as entertainment can only re-inforce the cult of violence in which our species seems to be becoming more and more embroiled. From Hero movies, through Kung Fu fliks to snuff movies, violence is presented as enmtertainment. The Newpy should reject this and speak out against such pornography being made.
