Hailing from Kansas City, The Get Up Kids are one of the front-runners of the present emotional rock scene. Many times unfairily holed into certain genres of music, The Get Up Kids play straight up emotional music, with influences coming from many places: weezer, the who, the beatles, superchunk, braid, jimmy eat world, etc. The Group's debut set of music was a 7" released in 1996 called "Shorty." Later followed by "All Stars" on Doghouse Records. Less than a year after "All Stars", TGUK released their debut full-lengthalbum "Four Minute Mile." About two years after "Four Minute Mile", "Something to Write Home About was released. Another two year span and "Eudora' was released including many of TGUK early work. Following "Eudora"'s release, TGUK toured with Green Day and Weezer extensively. Finally May 4, 2002, The Get Up Kids, released their fourth full length album "On A Wire." The band is currently on tour in the US, Japan, and England.
