Mud Slender Frog (Leptolalax pelodytoides); this frog is simimlar to the litter frog earlier (i.e. colourful eyes), however it was found in a stream at night (not in the leaf littler) |
Oldham's Forest Gecko (Cyrtodactylus oldhami); another cute medium sized gecko (about 15-20 cm). It was found resting on a tree root |
A typical Thai longtailed boat, we used these boats to go and survey some of the small island in the reservior. |
I found this caterpillar while walking through the forest during the day time, very colourful! |
Forest Crested Lizard (Calotes emma emma); this species is often green, however this specimen was an attractive brownish colour |
The same lizard as the previous photograph, but this time a close up |
Blyth's Giant Frog (Limnonectes blythii); this is the largest frog in Thailand (and probably Asia), I can't think why? |
Triangle Keelback (Xenochrophis trianguligerus); this snake is found in or near water (they eat frogs), on one small stream in one night we saw 5 of these snakes |
Olive Water Snake (Enhydris plumbea); another species of snake found in or near water, this snake was found at the side of a road while we were driving along |
Tokay (Gekko gecko); this is the largest Gecko in the world, and it also happens to probably be one of the most colourful |
This photograph shows the size of the tokay (that is my hand), it is a fair sized Gecko!!! |
A close up of the head, you can see the amazing eyes and also the texture and pattern of the skin clearly |
A view of the mouth, supposedly these Geckos have a really nasty bite, I am assured that if it had bitten me I would have been bleeding! |
Keeled Slug Snake (Pareas carinatus carinatus); slug snakes look quite strange as they have strange shaped head and really large eyes, are are all relatively small. This individual was found dead on a road |
