Satan with bells on

You Could Have Saved Me

The waves were crashing around me
And the rain fell heavy and cold on my head
Streaming down my face
You couldn’t even tell I was crying

You turned your back
And turned away
When you could have saved me
It was all I really wanted
To lose myself inside of you

You could have saved me on that nite

I fell to my knees
And screamed to you
It was all I could do
I don’t think you heard me
My cries were lost under the crash of those waves
I don’t think you heard me dying inside

Do you know it was you that was killing me
And that you could have saved me that nite

I was sure you’d turn back
Even as I watched you fading
If I just kept crying out you’d hear me
You’d run to me
Pull me from my knees
And wrap me in your warmth
I’d see the stars inside of you

That would have saved me
From myself

Now I can’t even see you
You’ve disappeared over the blank horizon
I can remember the days when the sea was calm
I could hear you
Even when you whispered to me
I showed you everything
Gave you everything
You told me you loved me too

So I’m still crying out to you
And soon these waves will stop drowning out my sorrow
I know you’d come back if you could hear me

The sun rose on that nite long ago
If only you knew
You could have saved me that nite
