Artistic Talent and Technlogical Expertise Computer games, motion graphics for television, and animated films are three of the most visible products in media arts & animation. But the opportunities in this rapidly expanding field go beyond the obvious. Animators create scientific and medical visualizations, courtroom reenactments, 3-D architectural simulations, educational materials, advertising, and more. What You Will Study Animation students begin with a strong foundation in color, design, and video production. As they advance, students learn to conceptualize and design 3-D images freehand as well as on the computer as well as script development and storyboarding, background and scenic layout, and special effects. As part of their course work, all students create a digital portfolio to show prospective employers. Special Features Students work in both Mac and PC computer labs, gaining experience with software programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Kinetix 3D Studio MAX. Career Opportunities Graduates are prepared to enter this high-tech field as modelers, storyboard artists, animation artists, 3-D illustrators, digital artists, FX artists, video post-production artists, and broadcast graphic designers, as well as game designers and film animators.
