The First Child:

Name: Rei Ayanami

Pilot of eva unit 00

"The first child" (her official designation in NERV) lives a very isolated life.  She seems almost robotic at times as she's never had any chance to develop an understanding of feelings, or emotions.  As new additions to the team arrive (Asuka, but especially Sinji) she finally has people she can identify with.  But as these new interactions increase Rei finds within herself a awakening soul striving to live normally despite the secretive introverted life she's led.  Will she finally figure out who she is and what it means to feel?  Or will she follow the path that the angles them selves seem to follow.... self destruction? 

The Third Child

Name: Sinji Ikari

Pilot of Eva unit 01

Abanded by his father when he was young in addition to the death of his mother,  Sinji has been forced to live on his own all his life with no one taking the time to help him sort through the grief, insecurity, and rage that any child would have in such an existence.  Harboring a hatred of his father, all he wants is to be loved. 

However with an uncooperative parent and an aggressive Asuka, Sinji must deal with his insecurities and finally decide what he wants on his own.  Will he give in to the black sea that encompasses his soul or will he master his insecurities and finally be able to stand up and face the reality that is his.

The Second Child

Name: Asuka Langley Soryu

Pilot of Eva Unit 02

Even though she is the third pilot to arrive, she is in fact the "second child."  Living in Germany all her life with what seems as neglect-ive parents, outwardly she seems to be the pilot who's the most stable of the three.  However hidden deep inside where nobody can see, reside deep wounds.  Wounds which drive her to be abnormally competitive at whatever she does, and be loved by everyone (which could be an unconscious drive to fill the void inside her).  Will she gain understanding and closure to the wounds inside her or will they consume her in a fit of grief and rage?
