Just a stag but nonetheless a great hunt with Kelvin from Tas. at Eildon Weir.Lunch time Sat. and the old 7mm did the job once again. It was a warm May day and the stag is still carrying remnants of velvet on top.

My son-inlaw found this stag`s wallow on the shore of Lake Eildon and we decided to hunt him for the next couple of weekends. The third weekend we invited Lutz to hunt and he was the lucky one. .375 H+H one shot. This stag was his first decent head and was later mounted and given away. Why? 10.00am Saturday.

Doug with first one Lake Eildon .270 two shots.Doug looked downhill and saw this fine deer feeding with a hind about 1pm. After the first shot he found his trophy coughing from a lung shot and gave him the second.Kelly Ck.was the place fella`s. This is a top trophy for your first stag and Doug downed a few ales later that night. All the so called experts may tell you Eildon is washed up but it still produces quality deer for the fella`s who put in the hard yards and get their arse off the creeks.
