Landespolizeigruppe Wecke z.b.V / L.P.G. General Goring: The changing from police detachment to military establishment
Once renamed Ladespolizeigruppe Wecke z.b.V., the blue uniforms of the police unit were replaced by green ones, cut similar to army uniforms. The changing of the guard is wearing these new uniforms for the first time.
On January 12, 1934 Landespolizeigruppe (State Police Group) Wecke, was renamed Landespolizeigruppe General Göring. This new designation of the State Police Group also came with a new sleevband, worn on the left sleeve, which read, "L.P.G. General Göring".
Their training from this point onwards was exclusively military. Training followed the army service manual and army officers, and non-commisioned officers were added to the unit. Training facilities and courses of the army were used as well. The unit also performed maneuvers in the Mark Brandenburg area, as well as on official army training grounds.
On June 6, 1934, Lt. Colonel Jakoby of the state police was made commander of L.P.G. General Göring. After this, in 1935, organization, armament, and equpiment were equivalent to those of a motorized infantry regiment of the German army.
Legislation of the establishment of the German armed forces of March 16, 1935, stated that the German army in peace time, including integrated police units, be divided into 12 corps commands and 36 division. The police units mentioned above were state police groups under the authority of the states. When these units were integrated into the German army, L.P.G. General Göring, was exempted. After Göring's appointment as the supreme commander of the Luftwaffe, L.P.G. General Göring, was integrated into the newly created air force.
