May 6th Meeting

Scorching temperatures and clear, blue skies greeted the drivers as they unloaded their cars to prepare for the days racing. Even at the start of racing, tyres were so hot that rubber collected on the startline (see pic). After each heat, the drivers had to cool themselves (and their cars) before facing the challenge of another race. It was good to see the return of the Granada and Wilhelm (see pic) a car and Driver that have both survived five seasons of RallyCross and is still going strong. Throughout the day everyone enjoyed the weather and the close, fast racing - including Ralf Ommer's daughter (see pic). Even though there were over 50 drivers racing, no problems occurred for the majority - the one exception was Heinz-Berndt Dreisilker who rolled his newly prepared VW Golf. Ouch! He walked away unscathed, which was more than could be said for the Golf! The Koch brothers had a good day, with both Emanuel and Thorsten winning trophies. Emanuel also managed to gain the fastest time of the day in his Honda CRX.

Alex Ommer once again dominated the ladies class - her Driver Profile can be seen below.

DRIVER PROFILE

ALEXANDRA OMMER

This month's profile features Alexandra Ommer. You will all have read about her exploits as the 'fastest lady' of the RallyCross Club. Now learn more about her.

Alex is 23 years old and has been a member of the club for three years - she is actually one of the youngest members! Her exploits on the track have put many of the male drivers to shame, although they would be slow to admit it!

Three would seem to be her favourite number - Alex has been working for the local Gutersloh Police Force (Polizei) for three years. She loves her job as she gets to drive fast cars with blue flashing lights! She married her husband Rene a year ago - he too works for the Polizei. No children as yet.

Alex's hobbies (apart from RallyCross) include her job and dancing 'til she drops!
If you wish to send a message to Alex - email the club.
