Rurouni Kenshin bios
Rurouni Kenshin
120601
Born in 1849 (he's 28 for most of the show), Himura Shinta lost his parents to cholera, and ended up with some slave traders. One night, they were attacked by some bandits, and Himura's friends (who had become his new family), Akane, Sakura, and Kasumi died trying to protect Shinta. Before the bandits killed him as well, Himura was saved by a man named Hiko Seijorou, who told him to go to town, tell them of what has happened, and to try to live out the rest of his life as a normal person; Hiko then left. After a while, Hiko returned to find that this small child had buried all of the dead, and recognizing a kindred spirit within the boy, he took him on as his pupil, and named him Kenshin, saying that Shinta was too nice a name for a swordsman.
Sagara Sanosuke
120601
Born in something (he's ??), Sanosuke has been taken care of all of his childhood life by his boss, named Sagara. Sano didn't have a last name, but rather adopted the name of his boss. Sanosuke belonged to a militia group, named Sekihou-tai, whom worked for the Ishin group (yes, that's Kenshin's group). After a while, the Ishin group disavowed all knowledge of them, and killed all of them, but Sagara sacrificed himself to save Sanosuke. Later on, Sano meets up with Katsu, a friend of his is a fellow Sekiho-tai member who is around the same age. Sano fights Kenshin in the early episodes, but gets beat (and his sword, Zanba-to is cut in half), and joins him to make sure that he really follows the ideals that Kenshin proclaimed to follow
Yahito
120601
Born in 1869 (he's 10), Yahiko was born into a samurai (upper class) family, but his father died protesting the new government. His mother tried to support them by turning to prostitution (which was honorable, if I'm not mistaken), but died later also. He was taken in by a local Yakuza, and forced to pickpocket for them to pay back money that his parents owed them. Upon hearing about this, Kaoru tried to go and save him, but was attacked by the Yakuza. Kenshin ended up saving them all. But, the punchline is: he never owed them any money to begin with. Anyways, after being saved by Kenshin, Yahiko decided that he wants to be strong like Kenshin, so that he won't have to rely on others for help ever again. He wanted to become Kenshin's student, but Kenshin instead gives him to Kaoru, who trains him under the Kamiya Kasshin Ryu discipline. Yahiko still watches and practices Kenshin's moves, though.....
Saitoh
120601
Born in 1842 (he's 35), Saitoh is an extremely dangerous man who can fight with his fists as well as his sword. Saitoh was the 3rd Captain of the Shin Sen Gumi's troops during the Bakumatsu era, serving as their top assassin. He is known as "Mibu's Wild Wolf," and kills anyone who violates his code of Aku Soku Zan, or "Kill evil instantly." At the turn of the era, he felt an obligation as the losers of the war to protect the winning side, and thus joined the police force. He even took a new name for himself, Fujita Goro. Saitoh is also a very intelligent and cunning man. He has killed so many people and seen so much death in his years, that he has what I believe to be the "permanent hitokiri eye." Everytime that I look into Saitoh's eyes, he always looks like he's ready to kill another person... Definately not someone that you'd want to meet in a dark alley, if you're a bad guy that is.
Kamiya Kaoru
120601
The main female character of the story (and probably the most bad-tempered), Kamiya Kaoru uses the technique of Kamiya Kasshinryu and is the shihan of the Kamiya dojo. Strong-willed and gets angry easily, Kaoru is respected (also probably in Kenshin's case, feared... ^_-) among her friends. Kaoru harbors deep feelings for Kenshin (even though she beats him up a lot) and this shows in the episode where Kenshin says goodbye and leaves. One more thing - she's a BAD cook... After her father's death, Kaoru took over the Kamiya dojo and taught the Kamiya Kasshinryu technique developed by her father; a technique that was created with the intention of protecting people from harm. In the beginning of the story, Kaoru meets Kenshin for the first time when she was chasing after a killer who claims to be from the Kamiya Kasshinryu school (all part of a plot to take over the dojo). She attacks Kenshin but Kenshin dodges (and crashes down into a heap) and after some explaining, she realizes that he is not the killer she's looking for. She encounters the killer and is rescued by Kenshin. After hearing her story, Kenshin helps her and later stays in the dojo
