The Government Needs To Know
That We Welcome
A Place In The Sun

Creating A Formal Association Between the Turks & Caicos Islands and Canada

Let’s Petition the Government of Canada to Work Toward a Mutually Beneficial Association Between TCI and Canada.

Good reasons for this initiative to succeed.

1. Thousands of Canadians spend millions of dollars in the Caribbean and the United States every winter, with little appreciable benefit to the Canadian economy. As well, ensuring Canadian dollars are not exchanged into US dollars would favourably benefit our balance of payments and our exchange rate.

2. Baby boomers are looking for somewhere safe and convenient to vacation. Foreign travel medical insurance is extremely expensive and will be out of reach for many retirees. Why not have our Medicare system available in a tropical territory within Canada.

3. Residents of TCI have previously expressed interest in joining our country. In 1986, and independent survey of TCI residents showed 90% support in some type of association with Canada.

Canada rejected the idea of association with TCI twice, in 1974 and in 1987. Let’s not make the same mistake a third time.
