Beer Review: Dominion Pale Ale

I was informed by the OD Beer Menu that this ale was a 'boldy hopped Amber Ale' with a 'medium body.' I did indeed detect a little bit o' hops as I slowly drank this ale, but I would not personally say it was 'boldy hopped'. Perhaps this tasting was affected by the beer I had just had, OD's Real Ale -- an ale that is 'assertively hopped'. What, may you ask, is the difference between 'boldly hopped' and 'assertively hopped'? Good question! I'm not sure what the technical difference is between the two, brewing-wise, but here's what Webster's has to say regarding the difference between 'bold' and 'assertive':

assertive -- (2) having a strong or distinctive flavor or aroma
bold -- (6) standing out prominently : striking

Old Dominion has got it right for their Real Ale's description, but I am not so sure (in my opinion) about their Pale Ale's characterization. -- Brewmeister G
