Race Pack Construction
By Mortis
Things you need to do this..
- IEEP, (if you dont know what this is go
away, I dont have time to answer basic questions.)
- A Creature editor/creator (I use ShadowKeeper,
but any will do.)
- Some good portraits of what races you
want.
- Some time and patience
- And basic knowledge of ITM and Spl editing.
STEP 1: First off decide on what race you want,
Id advice against large races (dragons, demons etc.) as they will
stop you getting into buildings.. (real problem)
STEP 2 Open your creature editor and create a .cre file for your race,
dont worry about stats or class JUST the model animations and
colours. (you will see why later)
STEP 3 Open IEEPs Spell editor and create a spell that adds any
stat alterations, gives any innate powers and also changes the title
and portrait of who ever casts it.
Titles can be found using the Dialogue editor (search for wraith for
example) copy the code that appears into the spell editors Change
Title effect.
Portrait changing is easy, add the effect Portrait Change
add type in the file name in the resource key.
Lastly set the spell to polymorph specific creature to your
CRE file. (Make sure the morph type is only animation and colour NOT
STATS AND RESISTANCES.
STEP 4 In the Item editor make a potion that when drank casts the above
spell.
STEP 5 Make any extra spells or items you need (innate spells and touch
attacks.)
Save Everything. Back it all up and copy the CRE, all SPL and ITM and
your 2 portrait BMPs into overrides,
Start game, summon potion and drink it
. DONE.
EXTRA INFO
Portraits for either sex.
If like me you want a different portrait and model for each sex then
create the files for a male first, then make extra CRE and BMPs
for Females, once done make copies of all SPL & ITM files and change
the polymorph to the female CRE, and the portraits to the Female ones.
Save as a new spell and create a new potion to cast it.
Touch Attacks.
They way I have done touch attacks is to create an itm file for the
attack (non moveable) Then you make a spell file that creates the item
in slot 10 (fist) with permanent duration. Set this spell as an innate
ability that you can cast anytime (by using remove spell and give innate
ability tags)
This means you cast the spell to gain a touch attack that replaces fist
NOT a weapon (so you can still put weapons in the slot used.) Also the
looping is needed because if you set a itm to fist location for some
unknown reason when you save the game and reload it the item has gone????
Thats all there is to it.
Have Fun
Mortis.
Email me any questions linked to this, but not crap like how do
I make a spell check the other Tuts for that information.
