With the recent demons which have plagued our field, I decided to make a new
page on the web for them. This page is dedicated to all the members who have
lost their airplanes at the Sugar Creek Flying Field. So if you have a crash
story forward it to me at

along with any pictures you might have.
Wing
and a Prayer
I have been teaching my son Steve (14) how to fly over
the last few month's. Well the kid is doing great "Nerves of Steel". Gary
Pearson can testify to that! (Inside joke when I almost bought Gary's truck,
plane and paid medical bills.) Anyway Steve is doing exceptionally well and I
have been impressed. Sunday June 30th, we took his PT-40 to the field. After
baking the batteries, I attached the wing with the two nylon bolts supplied with
the old kit. We fueled her up range checked the radio then Dad went upon his
way to B.S. with a couple of Club Members. Steve fired up the bird taxi'd to
the runway and off he went. After about 5 minutes he setup for approach and did
a beautiful touch and go. On his second approach and with me still over B.S.
ing We heard Steve yell "OH my Gosh" We looked up only to find the wing 100ft
in the air floating slowly to the ground. Lesson Learned: Nylon Bolts, no
matter how the appear to look. Need Changed occasionally.
